Well one has been winning games for Australia, the other made 35 and a golden duck in the warmup game...

One has actually played red ball cricket lately. This won’t be the last player they keep in the squad. The amount of injuries mean they will probably keep another bat and a bowler. Have Inglis already for the keeper

Huge final day run chase from the A boys, chasing down 370 with 5 wickets in hand. Peirson 128no (64no in the first innings), Hunt 107, Hardie 78no

Hardie’s rise has been enormous

In half a season he’s gone from fringe shield player to leaving a genuine impression as an all rounder

Hopefully he backs it up for WA and delivers a big 2022/23 - and hopefully he keeps pressure on green

Hardie developing nicely, good to see Hunt and Jimmy score 100s....great run chase by the A team, so could of easily folded and lost by 150+. Harris keeps doing what he does best.....not sure any more time should be wasted on him....has been gifted multiple chances and failed to make them count....

He hasn't even been playing for Victoria has he? Anyway I think that's a good move, he should be a decent replacement for Head.
Basically Head's general style, only tailored to SC rather than Australian conditions.

And in the SC, he can bat for quite a while if he has too. He isn't the type who makes a start and then loses concentration. Even in IND 2017 some good bowling was needed to dismiss him, IIRC. He can go cheap if he can't read the bowler, though.

So is it more likely that Head plays ? Or we going to need to draft in a replacement at no 5 ? Probably not the worst time to have to cover Head in Sri Lankan conditions tbh.

Holland jumping over everyone. WTF?!
The 2 newest selectors are a former player/CEO of Cricket Victoria and a former player/head coach of Cricket Victoria. All of a sudden we're getting the Vic old boys selected for Australia. Coincidence? Yes, they just want an accurate finger spinner who spins it away from the right hander.

However you know this would be the argument if I replaced the word Victoria with NSW.

That news about Holland is very surprising. I've been a huge fan of his work for Victoria, but he wasn't that threatening at Test level when given the opportunity previously. I understand they might want a more accurate and consistent option than Swepsen, but surely Kuhnemann would get first crack even just based on match fitness and form.

However, very excited at the prospect of Maxy playing. Obviously not ideal that he hasn't played a First Class match since 2019. But still looking forward to him hopefully getting another crack at Test level.

Edit - Am now reading that Head will likely be fit. Still think Maxy might have offered more, but I guess that it would be tough for him with not much preparation.
