Australia will grow to like Tony Abbott as PM

You dont hear it from GI, because of political deafness. It doesnt suit the ideology.

Like I said a lot of the community leaders in both CC & Islam get about their business in the non glare of real life. They dont all have to scream from the roof tops. Some in the CC & the Islamic communities are more interested in protecting the name rather than the people. Thats the problem with types like Pell & Imams.

You too. Help Rom out with links.

The truth is, Muslim leaders are speaking out, but their voices are drowned out by sensationalism, such as the comments made by Palmer United Party MP Jacqui Lambie on Insiders last week when she equated sharia law to terrorism. Lambie's comments got a lot more media attention than when the Australian National Imams Council issued a media statement on September 15, that likened Islamic State to a "group of criminals" with nothing Islamic about their murderous actions, and stated: "Since the ISIS group was established we have been very clear about denouncing their lies and betrayal of our faith."

What? No links yet to Muslim religious leaders out on radio and TV since Friday denouncing the radicalisation of Muslim teenagers into perpetrating terrorist acts.
No iman from the Paramatta mosque prepared to go on tv to deplore the grooming and abuse of Muslim teenagers.

Not one link? Come on folks, try harder.

Why is Dr Rifi so alone this issue do you all think? Or don't you think?

GI Jane definitely believes he's clever. It's cute. Like a kid constantly wanting attention at the adult's table. Cute initially, then irritating, then you wonder why their parents haven't got them to behave better, and then you look for unsupervised unhealthy food they must've got into...

Good thing we don't have to worry about his rants since Abbott is no longer in charge. Because he obviously thinks he's onto something by choosing a stupid and highly specific question and then repeating it endlessly as people ignore him or query what the point is.

Jane has done the same thing in the Boats thread for bloody ages. In that case it was a false dichotomy, in this case it is the highly specific request for a link to Islamic leaders on TV or radio denouncing radicalisation specifically related to Parramatta, oh and from the Parramatta mosque too. And to top it off - oh, don't include the one guy who did that. Of course any sort of general declaration is suddenly not enough and dismissable.

e.g. The first search result, this from Sep 15:
AUSTRALIAN Muslim leaders say there’s nothing Islamic about the murderous actions of militant group Islamic State... “Since the ISIS group was established we have been very clear about denouncing their lies and betrayal of our faith,” said the Grand Mufti of Australia, Ibrahim Abu Mohammad, in a statement today...ANIC wants the term “Islamic” to not be used when referring to IS, also known as ISIL, saying it serves only to give credence to the group’s illegitimate claims of religious authority. ANIC also warned Muslim Australians not to trust the internet and social media “as some material may have dangerous influences on vulnerable minds”. “Instead Muslims must get proper religious advice from knowledgeable, respected and qualified imams,” it added.

Not referring to screaming from a pulpit.
Am asking for links from you lot to religious Islamic leaders going on TV and radio to deplore the grooming and radicalisation of teenage Muslim youths in their congregations.
To show strong leadership, not rant and rave.

Not hard. Now where are they?

If you are going to supply links or quotes, make sure that they are tailored to please GJ.
Not that anything you post will though as how can you supply anything to show someone if they already have made up their small mind?
This is a serious situation and unlike how Abbott used the media, I believe working hard in the background is more affective than media sound bites.

Currently watching news 24 (wow its the ABC!)

Watching a long interview with Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, not just a 5 second loud sound bite, nor a 3 word slogan.

She's been discussing the quiet work behind the scenes (ie away from sensationalist idiots) to work to help these potentially & actually, rebellious muslim youths, Their families & community leaders are very concerned & are working on various programs to steer confused youth onto more positive ways of operating in society. They get sucked in by web sites & perhaps some nefarious characters & act out the frustrations of youth.

This is the stuff that matters. Not bellicose flag waving. That is counter productive & just a destructive approach.

Its Sad that some would rather see pain & damage than a caring inclusive & quiet approach. Somehow it makes some people feel powerful to scream 'terrorist' & ramp up fear. I wonder if they are somehow happy with this serious situation? I think they are just as dangerous.

Quiet policing, intelligence & prompt action for illegal activity & quiet community/family interaction & working with troubled/susceptible youth.

Thats the best process, & the most likely to minimise what is a nasty social problem.

Was that an interview or the press conference she gave today?

Very strange that you were

You've probably forgotten - Concetta and Phillip Ruddoch were appointed by Abbott to do all this community liaison more than four months ago.
Concetta is not going to address the issue of mosques and muslim religious leaders absence of duty of care in the grooming and radicalization of Muslim minors to commit terrorist acts in the name of a heinous perversion of Islam. That is way above her pay grade.

From your previous posts Madmug I'm sure you would agree - the imans and certain mosques are starting to look more and more like George Pell et al and the bishops/priests of the catholic church lack of action on the terrible pedophile allegations.

New PM Turnbull seems rather behind on this comparison unlike Shorten who has began to aim his rhetoric at this comparison. Just as you yourself did in an earlier post. So you recognise it too.

Are you saying the ABC is giving credit to Malcolm for initiatives set up by Abbott? FMD I never would have thought it.

I hear what you say about the responsibility of Muslim religious leaders to counter radicalisation of young Muslims. But the real problem for our society is the promotion of multiculturalism. I'm not talking about us eating Pho and learning to dance Bhangra. I'm talking about government policies that encourage certain ethnicities and religious groups to isolate themselves from the rest of Australian society. Radicalisation tends to be promoted where mainstream views are excluded.

Maybe, rather sensibly, the Muslim leaders and others, are waiting to see what the deal is? What is the link of the 15 year old to radical Islam at this point? Perhaps wait and see what is discovered in the investigation. If there is a link, then by all means let's hope leaders everywhere condemn such behaviour.
ps.Did the principal of his school speak out against the type of behaviour they seem to be churning out?

I said a lot of work is being done behind the scenes. You seem to be fixated on the old megaphone diplomacy. Just because a lot of them arent on the shock jock shows or our media, which they probably dont trust them anyway, doesnt indicate mea culpa on their behalf. Same as priests, the vast majority go about 'good' work without fanfare.

Try & think a bit deeper about the issue. We all need to trust the authorities & community leaders working sensibly away from the media glare. In this & other areas.

So priests who didn't speak out against pedophilia - that was okay hey.
That's a newie from you. Beautiful.

As much as I'm glad to see the back of Abbott, I was also glad to see the back of Rudd for Gillard.

WHY have we not seen the out cry over the back stabbing of Abbott, if I recall at the time what Gillard did was treachery but different rules for Turnball.

Amazingly, instead of having it rammed down out throats that Turnbull stabbed Abbott in the back (pay back for when Abbott did it to him...) we are told that J Bishop is a harlot and Shorten is about to be stabbed in the back...

All we had was Gillard stabs Rudd, Rudd stabs Gillard. Oh no turns out it was Fitzgibbon, nope Albanese. Hang on, it was actually the union factions.
Nope, it was Shorten all along.

Also, it was Abbott and his superior skills as a leader of the opposition...

Whereas Abbott/Turnbull... just a blip on the radar.
