Not sure if this is good or bad news but a bit of an update:

Seriously sometimes living in Australia, we underestimate how good our weather is compared to England. Its a joke that it rains over there at this time of year. Summers in Perth and Sydney you get far , far less rain in late summer.........

Can rain sort of midway through March/late April.
I havent lived in the UK before. But the heavier rain in Melbourne/Perth/Sydney generally tends to occur in that June month.

I believe cricket in future especially the white ball formats, most stadiums will have a retractable roof. The cricket grounds lose and boards lose too much money in the UK, by not having a full fixture.
Not sure if cricket will make enough money outside if India in the future to have expensive stadiums.

Atherton covering the Headingley 2nd ODI in this series, said something along the lines of Yorkshire cricket club being almost broke, and that having a rained off match/not having a match this season, would have been a financial hit in the pocket. We live in a bit of a different age now. Compared to other sports, you have to appeal to a different demographic.
NFL, AFL, basketball, soccer, tennis continue on , irrespective of what happens outside. American Football have alot of indoor stadiums. Hence, why the AFL with the Tasmania new team, demanded a roof- given they know Tassie will most likely have alot of weather affected games. Peoples times are important, is basically what I interpret from that. People dont have the time to sit down and watch the rain fall. Not in todays age.
Wimbledon and French Open have roofs to cater 'marquee' matches when it rains.

It rains constantly though. Every test series is adversely affect by rain. Not that it typically matters, no one cares about playing away series against minnows.

Good to see England get a win to keep the series alive, it would have been a fizzer if the series was decided after just 3 matches.
It's not surprising that it is raining in England in late September, it isn't late summer there, it is well into autumn there now.
It still rains more in Sydney during summer than any England city apart from maybe Manchester, it hardly ever rains in Perth.

Has the hallmarks of most Australian efforts in England lately. Dominate the early games, lose/draw the decider in odd circumstances and then end up getting rolled or drawn.
The rain will probably give some false excuses to ignore the absolute drubbing the Aussies were getting.

Im not taking anything away for sure. But the win probably isn't as good as its made out to be without Australias main players eg Zampas, Pat Cummins, Head.
Australia haven't been able to put a big score on the board. Unlucky in the 3rd game losing the toss but I suspect England have the most improvement left in them.

Let's face it, all games should be played under a roof - although not practical or possible.
DLS and previous methods aren't perfect and furthermore rain rips off the average punter who turns up.
Rain affected matches don't always produce the right or fair result.
Nothing worse when it impacts on a 20/20 or odi world cup
eg. we'll never know if scotland would've rolled england in the last 20/20 world cup and proceeded to the super 8's , or if australia could've taken 2 points off england in the 2022 20/20 world cup and proceeded to the next stage.
1992 odi world cup is another prime example when pakistan got skittled for 70 odd, rain came and denied england and had to share 1 point each - meaning pakistan finished 4th ahead of australia and made the semi's and went on to win the world cup. wasn't a champions trophy also shared between india and sri lanka as well?
surely there are other instances.
DLS and previous methods aren't perfect and it's probably time that all white ball internationals in melbourne at at marvel (as crowds aren't great anymore).
thankfully test matches aren't too bad as the WTC encourages results and the impact of 20/20 has seen faster scoring rates. scaling test matches back to 4 days could be a different matter though.
not sure about you NYRB as you are our resident 20/20 nuffie here - but don't you get ripped off enough with a 40 over games going for less than a total of 20 overs on occasions with the team batting first getting skittled for pultry scores.

Yep look I know alot of forum and Australian followers follow the 50 over game and refused to look at T20 matches such the volume of games these days.
If you asked me to watch a T10 game , id probably give it a miss. I did watch a bit of it online for a tournament in the UAE in January earlier this year. Cricket Australia should plan for weather based on historical trends. We know Perth doesnt rain in summer, so happy to play on open venue. But SCG test match is notorious for rain in early January.
Brisbane used to get the early test match of the summer which from memory rarely rained (I can think back to the England v Australia Ashes draw ). The timing of the games is important.
I have the patience to sit down and watch a rained out test match. Im not sure the younger demographic or people who are curious about test cricket would. Just me though as I dont mind all three major formats.

Yeah rain is something we can't control unfortunately. It has saved many a test side with defeat over the years.
In regards to your T10 - surely there's got to be a point where it's - why bother playing - it's too short and doesn't require 11 participants on both sides - why would a key bowler waste their time with being limited to a 'maximum' of 2 overs.
It'd take me longer to get to and from the ground than the game actually takes.
For me a T10 is - may as well just play a 'superover' and be done with it, whereas 20/20 's are at least bearable and probably a minimum length a game should go for.
