With all the talk about how good is everyone is in B grade. Which club we all believe has the best depth coming through there reserves forget the 19's because every club has there guns. Which club has the best depth in the twos and why?

Yeah good ask My Mums Awesome.....forget the Juxtapositions between 1's & 2's this will even itself out throughout the year as the bottom 1's sides will draw on their best 2's players through form & injury.

At this stage my mail is OEG & SKOB's going by LY and early season form.

This should strengthen both with a slight leaning to OEG's

However look forward to any debate

cheers

Dogs have great depth this year, have too many players for three senior teams and 2 U/19 teams. Put the 2's up with Skevs as they beat them 2 weeks ago in practise matches (i know only practise matches) but were only percentage out of finals last year in A grade...have also the greatest reserves player in the history of the game in 'Buckets' Evans....

Did Justin tell you that himself???

I think justin has "best reserves player" tattooed on his midriff...
...a very good player nonetheless

Anyone can kick goals when they choose to run away from the footy and get the easy ones over the top!

If a defender was just to sit on his ass all day, not help his defenders or try and the win the footy in a contest - he would not get a kick.

i think you might be thinking of a different bloke. One of the better contested marks in the comp (1's or 2's) but an ordinary kick and happy to hand the ball off around goals

Good summary IaG and sounds positive for your team...they should push for an early win against Camberwell who struggled 1st up, and your 2nds winning is also a positive.

On the flip side is that OH still had 19 more scoring shots than Beauy putting through 22 behinds!.....if 4 or 5 had been converted could have made it worse - however poor kicking is poor football?.

Also good to see some new names in the side - any news on if they are new or up from the Unders?

All the best

In relation to the points kicked - yeah they missed a few goals, but really not too many gimmes, a few blazing shots in a row. And we have all seen if you kick one point, quite often you can kick 3 or 4 in a row without it leaving the 50 arc. Whereas once a goal is kicked it is straight back to the middle and half way back to our goal.....anyway, lets not dwell on last week.
Big Test for the young Sharks away again this week at Camberwell, with them posessing 5 ex-AFL players. Looking at last weeks result, St Bernards are clearly the premier side. To smack Camberwell by that much with that line-up is extraordinary. I know its one game, but they play Haileybury this week and if the result is anywhere near a 10 goal win to St.Bernards then I think the rest of the comp will really want to be on their metal coming up against them.
But on Camberwell, can anyone inform me how they seem to attract so many ex-AFL players. Is there a school link or what...if not, what is the attraction??? Is the club that great to be around??? We must be doing something wrong at Shark Park, or alternately "not doing anything wrong".....

Good post up until then. Some people just dont get what is required to lure quality players. Not money, but contacts and networking. The Ammos way. Good luck in C Grade in 09

spoke to a camberwell guy after the game and it seems all roads lead to david loats. they got loats a job (who had never had one before apparently) as a sales rep a couple of yrs ago and he brought down tallis and kingsley. not sure about the others. apparently they have tried to model themselves on xavs (smarts) in terms of setting up networking the last few yrs.
bottom half of the side still struggles though which is gonna hold them back in 08

Couple of things there goalmiester I suppose:

1) What did the ex-AFL players deliver to Camberwell last week?...end of the day 22 blokes on the field playing strong Ammo footy - best team will win especially those with strong depth.

2) "we must be doing something wrong.." I think so, as I'm sure I read last year that you had 22 or 23 junior teams - I also noticed before a reserve game last year your guys had to shoo some 100 auskick kids off the ground so the 2's could warm up.

"You have the well, just need a stronger bucket". Seems you know how to coach & develop them however lack management skills to keep them I suppose. But granted you seem to have a number at Sandy at the minute as well.

cheers

Justin Evans is one of this competitions most under-utilised geniuses (at senior level). Great footy smarts, courage in spades, fantastic reader of the play and vice-like grip.

At any other B grade side, he'd be a walk up start in the ones, and probably at about 4 A grade clubs too.

Must be the red(ish) hair which turns the selectors against him time and time again! :D

Old Camb vs Beauy (9 points)

Going for the outsiders here based on their raw young talent (exc Ensor & Lee). Interested to see how Gowers goes again. Hard to pick against OC at home however look for Bayford to keep them going. Interested to see Hillier back from Banyule on the promise of senior games - he needs to 'man-up' and I don't mean picking his man up.

Marc vs Old Carey (36 points)

My spies tell me Marc were very good last week without winning with Crapper looking good. I'm suss about the Caulf win so I'm placing that on the low side of the ledger.

OH vs St/B (8 points)

Going away from the slight favorites here. Just think OH needed to blow out a few cobwebs LW. With 12 goalscorers LW, ex saints adapting, Brewer going well and the team ailigning to JC new game style I give them the slight nod. Although they will need to curtail Potter and Baseggio who was good LW.

Caulf vs SKOB (23 points)

Very concerned with SKOB up by 5 at half time and allowing OM to kick 11 to 5 2nd half for win. Mount, Sheehy, Dowd & co need to play 4 qtrs and they should win. Interested to see if Slevison continues on and if the midfield can adapt to GC new game plan they will deliver to him better and he may keep them in the game.

OM vs OEG (12 points)

SHould be a good game and whilst reluctant to go against OM at home I just think OEG have the spine strength to get them there. Nothing wrong with both teams fitness kicking good 2nd half scores last week. D.Biggs & Cooper could be the keys.

all the best boys & girls
