Not even going to try and put together a ladder...absolutely pointless considering I know nothing about all 10 clubs. I mean I only know about the Sharks, the rest i hear is hearsay from the people on bigfooty.
Saying that, I go into Round 1 with no clue at all - but will start this years tips off! See how we go.
Old Carey v Caulfield - (15 pts) Caulfield may find it tough to find the big sticks without B.Sinclair. Will need to find other avenues to goal. In saying that, i think they will still have a bit too much experience for a Carey side that will want to make a big impression first up in B grade.
Marcellin v Old Essendon - (31 pts) Old Essendon to start off with a bang and have too many big guns firing. Will want to prove a point after the prelim final disaster.
Old Haileybury v Beaumaris (9 pts) - I have faith in our young team and if they can produce a solid four quarter effort, might surprise Haileybury who will rely too heavily on Voss, Loewe and Brown.
St Kevins v Old Melbunians - (30 pts) SKOB to begin a downward spiral for OM's who are lucky to not be in C grade this year. Really don't know where their improvement will come from. SKOB easily.
St Bernards v Old Camberwell - (6 pts) Never seen the Doggies play and have no idea, but have a big tradition in A section and will want to be back there quickly. If half the rumours are true though about Camberwell, they will have one of the toughest forward lines to stop in B grade. In a toss of the coin...Doggies.

Just a question, why are OM's so widely tipped to go down? Will they be that bad? Why?

Don't think they are that bad but just shows how tight B Section will be this year. 2 teams have to be relgated and B Section will be that close this year that who ever finishes 9th will be pretty unlucky I reckon. Could even end up with 6 or 7 wins and still go down.

OM's will be strong, are even money to win this weekend.

As a very respected poster, I take your view seriously. In the past you have come very well informed.

Does this quote suggest that Skobs are also in trouble this year or are both teams in good shape to have a successfull year?

It would seem from the early news that OM's are going to find it tough in 08.

Please enlighten me on the matter.

Cheers
Sweet.

I can read Brian like a book... he doesn't want his boys (who are long time Big Footy followers) to go into the round 1 match with Watermelon heads and come away with a shock loss.

Caulfield have signed Andrew Slevisen from the EFL - kicked 100 a year or so back. Think they have their replacement.

The truth is they don't know, teams like OM's don't tend to have a presence on sites like Big Footy so it's all just hear say. They were tipped throughout last season by many big footy punters to be relegated but hung on. And logic would dictate that if 2 come down and 2 go up then the teams that finished 7&8 last year are most likely to go down without any real insights at hand.

Old Essendon to win this week by 10+ goals

So you're saying that the punters on here were pretty much spot on, seeing as OM's only held on by a kick, it could have gone either way really...

It would seem that way.
But my message related to the One Trick Pony question.
Happy for others to provide feedback on their choice of OM's, Beau & OC to battle out relegation duties this year.

Big Slevison has bagged 10 goals in the two practice matches he's played so far for Caulfield in limited appearances, not sure of the strength of the opposition, but looking the goods at this stage!

OMs have picked up a couple of players from here and there and how they play together will go a long way to determining their performance this year, but it will be a very even competition.

Spot on with 2 C grade sides coming up that look alright it puts OMs and Beauy in the gun straight away. SKOB finished 8th in 06 and early thoughts on here were that C Grade was on the cards for 07.
SKOB lost to OMS in Rd1 last year by 12 goals so dont think the boys will be taking them lightly at all.

TBP's TIPS - Round 1

Old Carey V Old Caulfied @ Bulleen - 33 points
Marcellin V OEG @ Bulleen - 9 points
Old Haileybury V Beaumaris @ Badlands - 45 points
SKOB V OM @ The Rat Cage - 17 points
Snowdogs V Old Camberwell @ The Snake Pit - 2 points

Match of the Round - Snowdogs V Old Camberwell

Welcome to B Section! The Snowdogs host the highly fancied Old Camberwell at the Snake Pit in a game in which both sides have a lot to prove. The Snowdogs have been pretty quiet over the summer while there has been lots of talk about Old Camberwell's big name recruits. Winning at The Pit is not easy though. Snowdogs by less than a kick.

Caufield 9 goals
OE 7 Goals
SKOBS 8 goals
OH 4 goals
OC(1) by a point

good luck and a safe journey to all players.

Old Carey V Old Caulfied @ Bulleen -31 points
Marcellin V OEG @ Bulleen - 39 points
Old Haileybury V Beaumaris @ Badlands - 85 points
SKOB V OM @ The Rat Cage - 8 points
St Bernards V Old Camberwell @ The Snake Pit - 22 points

Exciting to finally have round 1 here. Full of highlights, it promises to perhaps give us some answers to all of the rumours floated on BF all Summer long.
OMs have definately flown under the radar, as have SKOB, Marcellin and the Snowdogs. I expect a very closely contested first 4 to 6 rounds, then injuries will start to take there tolls and depth will start shining through. As we all know, big name recruits mean nothing if your twos and 19s ride the blue bus to the game.

Champagne comedy Brian... you can't teach that!
