Anxiety/depression can strike anyone at any time. The kid is also only 22. One would hope he will learn from his mistakes which I’m sure we can all relate to.
Or maybe he should do as the older generations do, and suppress everything, self medicate through alcohol and/or drug abuse. Or simply as they like to call it ‘harden up’

It’s hard to make good decisions if not in your right mind whatever causes it. I think both generations have a point, growing up we didn’t address those issues especially as men now we do but it’s clearly gone too far where everything is mental health. It’s another societal pendulum swing which naturally over corrects it will find equilibrium at some stage. I can certainly see how tough it can be for young men with massive money and fame (terribly magnified by social media) to go off the rails and almost everyone deserves support and second chances, but you then need to honour that goodwill with good behaviour. I hope he makes it wherever that is would love him at the hawks.

Hidden behind a pay wall, but geez, it seems like Geelong are making a hard play for Smith, and not just idle/false rumours either.
His value has probably fallen a bit, but I still think 2 first round picks or a 1st and an early 2nd round pick is at least a starting point.
Did you read it? It literally says Geelong called us to say the report was false

Cats probably agree on value. Any passing glance at our current midfield says he's worth it for us.
My guess is still that they're just sowing seeds for when he's out of contract. Wouldn't say no to him for next year though. His great clearance work and terrible kicking can replace dangers great clearance work and terrible kicking.

Would have to be a 3 way trade so he can fly up to the Gold Coast grab their first and bring it with him. Are you sure you can part with pick 85 going back?

The Smith to Geelong rumour is not going away
Doesn't look like The Cats will have any major impact in September this year, so their first round pick is probably going to be low enough to be a starting point/piece in a trade for Smith (probably along with their future 1 rounder I assume)
The Dogs need to regenerate their midfield (Libba and Bont can't do all the heavy lifting) and unless Bevo is sacked/moved on (unlikely) it seems like Smith isn't likely to regain the blistering form of his few seasons which was exciting and best as anyone in the comp)

I still honestly think we were just planting the seed for next year. I would be shocked if a trade happened this year
1. Bailey Smith is contracted so moving him on does not help us.
2. If Sam Power doesn’t like the Geelong offer he will hold onto him.
Their would be a few clubs that will be planting the seed that’s if he wants out.
