Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

If only Baker had won a Brownlow he would have only got a reprimand by using the Brownlow discount program.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

The message is clear from the AFL: play the ball, not the man, especially not behind the play. I wonder is Fisher coming at Bartel when he was in the hands of the trainers was looked at.

Steven, you go away and think about what you've done.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

The only reason Baker has such a bad record is that he has been victimised by the tribunal in the past, ie. 8 weeks for the Jeff Farmer incident when there was no video evidence or witness accounts.

Once again it was only 4 weeks (Farmer incident), but upgraded to 7 weeks due to his bad record.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

Hard to fathom how they justify things these days, seems harsh in the context of the damage done.

In saying that, it's only Baker so it certainly has some genuine lol factor about it.

Looked at and no case to answer for Fisher.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

I see what must have happened.

Reading the full MRP report now.

First three paragraphs are identical. Must be just a copy & paste error.

He must be only up for 6 matches with 4 for early guilty plea....surely.

Oh wait it's the AFL.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

If you want to rage at the AFL, then rage at them for not acting sooner.

(Some) taggers have been utterly out of control over the last 6 weeks, and it's been getting worse each week. Apparrently lenient treatment of Hall and Judd with a strong feel that retaliation was forgiven was a bad look.

I'd be pretty confident that there was allmost a premeditated decision that the tagger who went too far this week was going to get nailed. Feel a tad sorry for the bloke who got nailed, but then again he's a filthy little twerp. When "tagging" includes repeated punches to the head, then something has to be done.

Good week to be a ball player this week.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

This is what you get when you put dweebs like Adrian Anderson in charge, should stick to accounting and leave footy alone.

AFL have lost the plot.

AFL would be a far superior game had Bucky Cunnigham been given the job.

Massive massive mistake we are all paying for :(

You're right poor Stevie Baker, such an innocent victim just happens to always be standing there when people go to ground behind play kneeling over in pain, it's the AFL out to get St Kilda!

Damn straight. Jeff Farmer had blood all over his face and good ol' Stevie Baker was just making sure that he was fine.

OT:

It amazes me why BF would move this thread that will be a major discussion point to an obscure forum that most posters never go to and completely forget about.

Sub forums have screwed this site....total joke.

It is surely costing them $$$ with reduced views/posts/time on site/ads clicked etc

Got me totally  why they do it.

Huge copy and paste error. The first paragraph for the first charge states the incident occured at the start of the first quarter, for the second charge the paragraph's changed to during the first quarter in the Geelong forward line, and for the third charge it's changed to during the first quarter in the centre. :p

I agree. Poor Stevie Baker. How dare his opponents get in his way when he's swinging his fists around?

Agreed - the site is over categorised to the shizen.

There were 4 seperate incidents all in the first quarter, 3 hits to the head 2.25 weeks, 1 to the body 1.25 weeks.

Without a bad record he would be looking at 6 to 8, with a horrible record it is 9 to 12.

I would like to see the videos as they all got intentional and low impact, cant bring myself to feel sorry for Baker in either case.

Re: Baker faces 14-match ban; Johnson four

Apparently St.Kilda were pretty keen to send a message to Geelong over the weekend. We got that message loud and clear.

The AFL it seems would like to send St.Kilda and more specifically Baker a message. Hope it's loud and clear enough for you.

Dirty filthy snipers with history are a dying breed. Good riddance to the lot of them. Yes footy is a mans game and yes it should be tough, but we can do without this sort of rubbish. Excellent decision by the MRP.

I'm pretty sure he copped weeks for punching Johnson's hand. So glad that prick is gone for the year. He is important to the Saints is a nuisance and as has been said a dirty little sniper.

Interesting - Tate Pears copped the same treatment first game back against the doggies and not a single report occurred

The little toe rag got what he deserved if your going to do this type of junk so far off the ball this is what you have to expect.

Couple this with the 50% loading he had from the Farmer incident in 2007 and you get the fair call from the MRP:thumbsu:

Which was an absolute joke when there was absolutely no evidence to support the report.

Do you seriously think SJ would've hit Baker once, let alone twice, if Baker wasn't using him as a punching bag?

Happens week in week out - just ask Chris Judd. Seems his poor record didn't work against him when he retaliated quite a few times throughout the game against freo. SJ does lots of his own niggling in games so I would have thought it was a pretty good match up.

The MRP have once again reinforced many posters views that some players receive more favourable results at the MRP than others. Just like the umpires have their favourites so to do the MRP and the AFL.
