Ballantyne wants out - Eagles

Didn't someone post a link or say their mate was Harley's personal trainer or some such recently indicating that he had trained several houses down, was issue free and fitter than ever??

Not personal trainer but yeah, he works with him personally. Can't go in to details obviously but he's usually pretty reliable. Basically said he's hungry to play as many games at top speed next year.

Cheers DT thought I remembered some other very good news.Adds another quality dimension to our makeup and particularly in attack.
If Harley kicks 20-30 himself you'd think he'd give Kersten/Cam/Tabs/Ape/Sonny about the same each:cool::thumbsu:
Then there's Brad Hill tonking it inside 50 on their chests....it's a thing of beauty in the making.

It could easily be the manager doing that. Ed was pretty happy after the Peel GF and I hope he stays long term which is a problem with competing for places with Ballantyne next year. No comparison to Grey with his disposal, while not elite Langdon is effective and seems to be pretty good around goal. Grey was surprisingly very good in his two AFL games but at WAFL level he would burn it all the time. Assistant coaches in front of me at one game groaned several times and one comment after another turnover 'was that Brady again?'.

It is a very hard thing to be able to kick well running full tilt and Langdon has some real wheels on him. Could be early on/pre-draft he hadn't managed the knack of settling just before he kicked - maybe why he slid to us.
I hope he just needs a bit of confidence, feeling like he belongs on the AFL field. Has the weapons to be good, but at the moment his first instinct is to handball. Think he's worried about making a clanger and doesn't want the responsibility - just needs to back himself in. Cmon son! Surely he's watched D.Pearce o_O

This gets me excited. My avatar is of two Harleys - vroom vroooooom

Picture our two harleys, lovingly restored, painstakingly broken in over the preseason - being let loose on the expanses of Subi oval. #releasethehogs

I think Bennell, Yarran and B.Hill will bring to the club next season is showing S.Hill and Crozier what on field arrogance can do. They'll see those guys going nuts and step up their games themselves. Can only be good things.

With all the trades being done it surprises me that it has all gone quiet on Ballas.
Taking the emotion out of the equation as the hawks have done, from Freo's perspective I would have thought that we need to create an opportunity for the likes of Yarran or Balic to step into. Ballas is what, 29?, has had a few bad head injuries, the odd trip to the MRP (he was innocent judge) so if we could get a second round or third round draft pick then now may be a good time.
The Eagles seem to have collected a few draft picks so perhaps something might be done late.
I wouldn't mind picking up Liam Ryan with a late draft pick.

I feel for ballas now , just in case nobody pick him up , will be very embarrassing to train with the squad in pre season.

Nope. Young only spoke to the media. No official request to be traded was made.

The word was he was offered another year on his current deal taking him to the end of 2018, but he wants a 3 year deal.

I suggest his manager is behind that acting per his clients instructions

It's got Haselby written all over it

Yeah I think it's about contract length more than anything else.
May not have even been offered an extension at all.
Doesn't want to leave Perth, told by club they're happy for him to explore his options .....etc etc.....Nek Minnit supporters are calling him a dog!:rolleyes:

Yep... Speaking of paul hasleby, I remember back in 2008 he did wanted to be traded. Gutted Mark Harvey forced him out in 2010 after 210 games with us from 2000-2010. Had he survived another year, I reckon Ross Lyon would if given Him the michael Johnson treatment and would of got the best out of him.

He easily would of made it to 250 games

From all I've read and what he has seen himself - I hope Eagles get it done in the end

Think we need to keep down youth path and though I'll miss him - he is replaceable...

As long he is willing to wear purple i am happy for him to stay. If he cause any problem within the group just send him to peel.

As much as we need picks, WCE simply don't have the picks available for Ballas. They need a small forward, but are planning (I suggest) a crack at the flag in 2018 with NN back. Ballas will come free to them next year once out of contract. 2017 will be a year to let Sam Mitchell bond with his new teammates and then they will be looking to have the serious crack in 2018. I just can't see WCE giving us a pick for him.
