Ballantyne wants out - Eagles

He's been training with Walters who seems to have put on some size through the shoulders. I don't bregrudge him, I won't mind if he returns to form next year and kicks 40-50 goals.
That'd be some sort of return to form since he's only got to that level once in his career

Maybe 2015 and 2016 were his return to form

2014 is the aberration

Rip off our players on your own board, Keyser. We already know you don't like Ballas or want him, so any further posting about his worth as a player by you in this place is unnecessary and unwanted.

I'm pretty pumped to be keeping Ballas even if it's just for a year. I'm yet to see another player want the footy more.

Also..

Walters McCarthy Yarran
Kersten Apeness Ballas

With Weller and Bennell pushing forward seems pretty potent to me.

Ballas still offers a lot more than Lecras who is playing on memory. Lecras is a truly washed up player.

Now you're being silly and downright disrespectful to one of ours on our board. Rubbish all you want over on your board but remember where you are.

I said 40-50 goals would be some sort of return to form and it would be

He's kicked over 40 goals once - in 2014 when he got 49. His next best is 34 in 2013 and he's returned 30+ in 2 other years. That's not being disrespectful it's just stating facts

If he kicked 30-40 in 2017 that'd be a return to form and if you offered that to Ross at the start of next year he'd take it given the defensive pressure that comes with it. Hell, if you guaranteed that return for west coast if he came across we'd say where do we sign

Do any of you think he has a 40+ goal year left in him? With better supply and a more functional forward line 30+ is possible since he managed 26 this year. But over 40, that'd be some sort of effort

And you know what, WC fans don't deserve him. Looking at the drivel posted by Keyser So'n'so and Co it just reinforces my belief that WC is the club for people who aren't that into football. They'd probably bloody boo him for not ducking.

It has been like that since 1992.

Before then it was kind of like a WAFL sanctuary where all the shellshocked fans congregated.

They want later picks for F & S selection Waterman, They are probably holding out to see if they get him for next to nothing by the end of next week.

He still kicked 26 goals from 20 games in a year that we struggled, and he played more up the ground. So 1.5 goals a game is about right, and a good return for a small forward. Anything above that gets you close to AA.

I think he still has 2 years of good footy left in him, maybe more. He is a high octane player so definitely susceptible to injury. I am happy t have him here in 2017 if that is the way it pans out (I have been open about if he wants to go then no problem too - I am not privy to the real details which I am sure will come out).

I struggle to see Ballas and Walters in the same team in the format we had with Pav as a key forward, however with multiple key forwards in Apeness, McCarthy, Kersten + 1 (Fyfe\Sandi\Tabs etc), then it will be a different situation. I thought he would have been a huge asset to WCE considering the lack of leg speed and defensive pressure with your other smalls.

End of the day, I would rather keep Ballas than have him playing in Yellow and Blue!!!

We gotta squeeze Tabs in there

I think the reduction of interchanges over the last two years have affected Ballantyne's ability to perform at his best. Like Dane Swan, Ballas use to work incredibly hard to the point of exhaustion before recharging his batteries on the bench and doing it again. He doesn't have that luxury anymore, and has become less effective as a result.

Ballantyne is unlikely to improve his tank, so I can't see him regaining his All Australian form.

Yep... Speaking of paul hasleby, I remember back in 2008 he did wanted to be traded. Gutted Mark Harvey forced him out in 2010 after 210 games with us from 2000-2010. Had he survived another year, I reckon Ross Lyon would if given Him the michael Johnson treatment and would of got the best out of him.

He easily would of made it to 250 games

2008 Hasleby did his knee in a pre-season game and missed the entire season, so I'm not sure he would have had much trade value, although he did come back from his knee in 2009 without having the expected year out, and a year to regain confidence.

From what Vozzo has said its cap space that's the main issue.

But having a draft pick for waterman would also be a factor- we have 12,34,54&72 currently and would probably be hoping that any bid doesn't come until after 34. That way we can use 54 which means we wouldn't want to be trading 54 out and without wanting to be seen as dissing Ballantyne I don't think he's worth 34 at his age. Leaves 72 which is unders by some margin

it might of been end of 2007 he wanted to be traded

Again.... I rather Freo keep Ballas. I doubt you would want to waste your energy throwing a brick at Eagles HQ or use Tough man Tony Abbott tactics on the eagles board!:)

Do you really think Waterman will last to 34? Would be a good replacement for the Pez dispenser. And with more heart.

Honestly don't know - I'm a long way from being a draft expert but I haven't seen him in many top 30 lists so it's a possibility.

And the only game I've seen him play was that U/18s all star game and he was pretty underwhelming in that tbh

It helps that you guys only have pick 7 before our pick 34 at this stage and I very much doubt you'll use that to bid on waterman

He was invited to the combine so there's other clubs interested in him but doesn't mean any of them will pull the trigger before 34 in a draft with a lot of options

He was very good in the GF. Was also very good in the first U/18 state game, except for uncharacteristicly bad kicking from set shots. I think he is underrated on these boards.
