I heard Gisborne was a chance?
I doubt that they would. I thought the prospect of a Gisborne/Sunbury match was part of the attraction for Gisborne to join. KA might be able to give a better insight though.

Only other clubs that I could see coming accross would be Hepburn, Bunniyong and possibly Waubra however I dont see the incentive for them to come accross when they are always competing for flags unless they would like to stretch themselves against superior competition than they currently face.
The CHFL also has more traditional rivals and a stronger supporter base than the BFL. Granted, I haven't seen much CHFL football, but at the games I have seen, their crowds dwarf those in the BFL, particularly in Ballarat itself.
Sorry if i sound like a broken record but sebas should seriously consider a move to the chfl. Elimate the bye and we also wouldnt have to lock our cars & changrooms up when we travel there anymore

Well you really are starting to sound like a broken record, maybe we could all play down in Melton or the Marsh on the basis that they are such fine upstanding and crime free communities, and if you dont lock your car at every football ground you go to then you have issues bigger than just bagging sebas every few posts, after all they did finish last didnt they????????? ......oh no looks like they didnt after all.
Optimally the league would operate at 10 teams which would allow everyone to play each other home and away, eliminating the bye and being fairer all round.
If Sunbury go to the EDFL in 2013.....that will be the case.
If Sunbury do go, they will have to start off in Division 2 I believe.
The bfl has real issues like many leagues and the vcfl need to help clean it up and create synergies amongst clubs and leagues. The ol chestnut of it is a better standard is being ignored by players and spectators for bigger crowds, greater town v town rivalries, less travel as a whole and competitive money to good players by the minor and district leagues. It has been a terrific league for a long long time. I think despite the best efforts of all involved creating the link and connectedness between the eastern and western block communities has just not worked. The players still enjoy playing I assume but the community of both blocks just is not supporting the concept with their attendance. You just need to go to a chfl or rdfl gf to see the atmosphere and crowd involvement as opposed to bfl to clearly see the difference.
If that's the case then I would think that would be a fairly big disincentive to transfer. Considering the standard and success of the sides moving up from B to A grade in the EDFL recently, the EDFL would be wise to let sunbury in A grade straight up.
The issue would be the B grade clubs opposing.
A club from the WRFL looked at moving across after dominating Div 1 for years but were told they had to start in B grade......they didn't want to and stayed put.
If it's the same option for Sunbury....you think they would stay in the BFL.
How do you think an East vs West 'all star' type game would be receieved?
Isnt the issue that there is an East v West mentality that means the league is not at one, so cant see that being the answer.
Red tape would stop it happening but maybe the VCFL can intervene to make it happen but the best thing for footy in the region would be for CHFL & BFL to merge and have a 2 division competition. It creates interest for the whole season at the top and the bottom of the ladder.
Isn't there like 18 teams in the CHFL already?
If that is the case prob makes the case stronger, and could do away with Melton, South & sunbury whose regions are no longer country and should be playing in metro comps and have it purely as a Ballarat/Goldfields competition..
Mitch Hahn to coach Bacchus Marsh next year with Doug Hawkins to run the boundary. Done deal. HUGE coup for the Marsh.
