You'd think a short term appointment ....maybe 3 years & would take him to 75

It's a "meh" appointment
Yeah, no use getting great footy people into the club that bring success everywhere they go
We already have all the best people

This seems to good to be true.

But if not, this is presumably what his first day at the AFC would look like:

Neil Balme, Waynus is right, pure meh if appointed to the board. Brings nothing in a footballing sense, hopefully he spent some time working g in a bank or has a law degree we don’t know about.
I appreciate your point, but is the board the right place for Balme? The board is there mainly to make sure that the CEO doesn't send the club broke or break any politically-correct or other laws. Balme should provide football input in a more suitable position.

Having said that, I acknowledge that Balme's health might not be able to support that, and a board position may be a compromise, but surely there's a better compromise position to be had?

Roo is chair of both list management and football strategy committees. Plus he’s involved in recruitment process of key footy staff, including senior coach. His influence in terms of setting agenda and direction is significant. Especially when you take into account the L platers that also find themselves on those committees.

Exactly and has been the one constant in the worst period of the clubs history

OK, but is board membership a prerequisite for football committee directors? Having to attend board meetings would probably bore him to death.

Would think he can design it how it works for him. Set footy dept matters at the beginning of the meeting, he can leave the meeting once they move onto the boring crap.

Channel 9 reporting very positive talks, for both parties there couldn’t be a bigger no brainer.

Channel 9 gave a summary of his over 50 year career, Norwood premiership coach, key figure in successful football programs at Geelong, Collingwood and Richmond.

His appointment would be the furtherest you can get from “meh”.

Old Waynus has spun plenty of nonsense over the years, but I reckon this might be the moment where the whole board can agree as one, it’s the dumbest comment on Big Footy history.

Surely board member is something he could manage? How many hours would a board member put in?

I am not the anti Roo as much as some but if Roo can manage the role with a small village at home, media roles, pubs and still have time for trips at the river I am sure Balmey the legend can manage!

Please make it so.

Nah, Kristof will roll in crapping on about 'diverse views' when what he really means is 'the enemy of my enemies is my friend'.

The Adelaide Board has had a lack of football people on it since the Sanders era... & currently too reliant on Roo.

We need board members with more relevant skills & less hanger ons.
