I'm at the ground

Not once have the umpires come together for a discussion about things - in Geelong last year there was discussions, tonight they're getting on with things & playing the game

People will accuse me of defending the ground because it’s my AFL team’s home but it’s nothing to do with that it’s a cricket comment: that was a farcical decision to me last year.

Yes there was a spot on the pitch that was damp and was behaving different to other parts of the wicket, and one ball in particular behaved noticeably different to the others and how it should.

But it didn’t threaten the batsman’s safety and all it really did was beat the bat (by a lot) and look incredibly awkward. It reeked of ‘it’s too difficult for the batsman to actually find a solution to a difficult situation’ rather than ‘this is actually threatening anyone’s health.’

It’s like in these scenarios they forget that although people like T20 for the big hits and the fast scoring, it’s still a game that includes bowlers and where batsmen are tasked with finding answers to the questions bowlers pose to them.

The pitch is a disgrace, the run up to the pitch and the outfield is dangerous.
