They have obviously done it so the big market teams get their games in in the holiday period.

Not sure how many test players will be released to the big bash but really unfair if Hobart have to play all their games against full strength line ups when others get weakened teams.

I was also thinking they might try and get most of the Stars home games in before the Australian Open.

Im heading to the MCG tonight for my first Melbourne Derby. First time to the MCG for a BBL game too- feels weird saying that as I have been to BBL games across Australia in the 14 seasons prior.

Some quirky little stats that I have in relation to the MCG and not really sure why it is.

Teams batting first in the MCG in the Power Surge Era from 26 games:

Average 21.27 runs
Median 18.50 runs

Which indicates to me that compared to a similar ground like the Perth Stadium , runs are generally a bit more tougher at the MCG. Perth Stadiums average (whilst batting first) is above 4 runs higher in the Power Surge overs. The MCG though has a higher Powerplay , first 4 overs compared to Perth. Make of that what you will.

Both teams if batting first would be happy Id say with around 22-24 runs in their Power Surge overs- it would be above the averages since the Surge was introduced.

Gades released their squad yesterday with O'Neill out replaced in the squad by Xavier Crone

They've not long announced another change with Kane Richardson now out for soreness reasons, replaced by O'Neill

Not sure if O'Neill was simply omitted yesterday and is now in line to hold his spot, but either way we'll see at least one change

Will Fraser-McGurk stand up tonight? If your going to cash in , surely against that Stars attack tonight is up for the taking.

A year or two ago I'd agree, but he's been indifferent at times this year and don't mind the chance to get a look at someone different

Sandhu is rubbish though.

Sandhu is rubbish though.

Hopefully he's only needed for maybe one or two overs rather than being seen as a 4 over option

If we're looking at it as Rogers, Sutherland & Zampa each bowling their 4 overs, that means we need to get 8 overs from Bethell, Crone & Sandhu, and watching Bethell the other night I wouldn't mind seeing him get more of an opportunity with the ball

This big one being a Fox exclusive is annoying. Usually wouldn't have an issue but I'm away from home tonight at a place where internet is very ordinary, and I also can't be arsed setting up Kayo.

Channel Seven showing horsey crap.

Not that I watch on 7, but I thought the derby matches would be the ideal ones for 7 to be broadcasting

Did they really need to have the flame machines set up tonight

It's still bloody warm in the stadium
Can't just go to watch sport anymore, you've got to have a match day experience.
