I'm sick of the stupidity and blind optimism that occurs on this forum. Some of the ridiculous quotes I've heard this year are:

"Kangaroos will finish top 4"
"Essendon will make the 8"
"No way the Hawks will miss the 8"
"Carlton to finish top 6"
"Freo to win the flag"
"Melbourne to finish top 5 with a good run of injuries"

Stop the blind optimism and be totally honest on where your club will finish in 2008 along with the amount of wins and any glaring weakness in your side.

Melbourne - 12-14th / 7 to 9 wins, with a moderate injury run. Weakness is our defence...can't stop the guns. Plus we can't cope with numerous injuries.

Not sure how all of these comments are ridiculous. All are possible, some more possible than others though.

Essendon to make the 8 ..... were in the 8 for much of the season until they ran out of steam. Would need some players to step up and need a bit of luck, but prior to round 1, it is not a ridiculous notion.

No way Hawks will miss the 8 ..... how is that ridiculous. Most are tipping further improvement. Missing the 8 would be more surprising than making it.

Carlton top 6 ..... unlikely but not ridiculous. Every year a team comes from outside the 8 to make the top 4. Depends whether you believe Carlton were trying to win or not and then added in some class and development of high draft picks. Will happen sooner or later but until it does everyone will say that it won't happen.

Freo to win the flag ..... were favourites prior to 2007 and had a shocker. They have underperformed for sure and parallels with Geelong 2006 are possible.

Melbourne top 5 .... just that sort of team. Nothing about Melbourne predictions are ridiculous, they prove that time and time again.

Well if everything works, no injuries, all committed, I can see 6th occurring. I am also scarred and can see 16th occurring. Based on that I guess I split the difference and predict 11th.

I can't escape the phrase "transition year" so with a heavy heart, downgrade the Swannies to a range of 6-10. Might scrape into the 8 but hard to see them past weeks 1 or 2. I hope to be surprised.

Tipping the reigning premiers may be the lazy punter's prediction, but Geelong were THAT far in front of the rest that I can see them easily go back to back. To choose outside of that.... nope, I can't see it.

Vying for the eight - I expect 2 more wins than last season as a minimum which should see us thereabouts....
