I agree youth is their future but they'll need some established players I think. It could drag out but if Brown is definitely gone then I doubt theyd want to risk sitting on it. He'll get them something decent regardless of where he goes given up to 5 clubs reportedly interested.

Delisted 11, yes smaller squads next year but cant replace with just kids given there are more senior players already gone next year like Tyson. They need to be careful with this rebuild.
While they will need some senior players, they won’t be targeting the top players where they’ll need this trade to be done early in the trade period. North can drag this out for best trade return they can get.

Although you are correct that we will likely bring in some mature players from a short-term perspective to help the kids, I can assure you, that any trade involving Brown will be for long-term benefit. Involving either picks or young player.
We'll see. I dont think their aim is to replace duds with kids and more likely duds. This is a radical list change.

But anyway, an early Brown trade also gives them time for some tactical pick swaps regardless if their strategy.

Not sure bringing players in is Norths priority. I’d say they’d be after draft capital or young developing players more than anything. I’d say this could drag out until they get something close to what they want. I’d say if a trade can’t be done Ben might have to look at his 2nd or 3rd preferences. Similar when Fremantle didn’t give Brisbane what they wanted for Mitch Clark which forced him into accepting Melbourne.
Or he could walk to the draft. Not saying he would, but it’s not unprecedented.
Oh, and Mitch Clark wasn’t forced to Melbourne because Freo wouldn’t trade fairly, he went to Melbourne because they offered him a big pile of money.

Depends which club he wants to get to.

Mitch Clark wanted to get to Fremantle. Melbourne only got involved when a deal couldn’t strike to between Freo and Brisbane. Freo could of had him on day one of trade week if they accepted Brisbane’s request. Clark originally knocked Melbourne’s big money back determined only to get to Fremantle. Fremantle refused the trade demand and Clark eventually accepted Melbourne’s offer. Freo then accepted Brisbane’s trade request but was too late.

Clark couldn’t get to Freo so had to accept the big money offer

That happens 7 or 8 times a year every trade week. Team 'can't get trade done' until it gets to the end of trade week and the deal does get done. Mitch took the cash and in the end we dodged a bullet.

He only took it once a trade wasn’t going to get done. Did you not read above where he rejected Melbourne’s offer? Brisbane and Freo were at a big stalemate, no one was budging and the clubs had some angst between each other. Who cares of bullets were dodged, this is about Ben Brown if a trade can’t get done to his 1st preference, I was just using a comparison.

Pies could have used Brown tonight..

First rounder please.

Not sure Brown would have helped. We couldn't get our hands on the ball and wouldn't have been a lot of opportunities for him either.

We need to work on our centre clearance connection before we worry about our forward line.

It's a bad comparison and you saying that a player has to take the big money deal just isn't true.

Seriously. I could cut-and-paste that paragraph from at least one or more situation that in the end did result in a trade every year. Go read Brad Hill articles before the deal was done during trade week last year. BHill and the Clarke trade were in the same situation at the same point in trade week.

Whatever point you were looking to prove is on shaky ground if that's the example.

The point was simple, I said North won’t be in any rush to get a trade done early in the trade period. They can hold out and get what they want. If a trade is unlikely to occur Brown might have to look at another option than end up at a club he doesn’t want to through the draft.

Feels more his opinion rather than anything with a quote like that.

Of course it is.

"I believe" , "It's understood"

It's why bottom feeders like him and Caro get snippy with clubs when the connections dry up.

Flogs.

Isn’t Barrett a North supporter? It feels like he can’t stand the idea of Brown possibly going to Collingwood so he keeps throwing out other club names in hope they’ll agree with him and take a crack.

Well I don't see how he does go to Collingwood? Between DeGoey, Mihocek and Daicos that's a lot of priority re-signing to do before factoring in what Brown will cost.

Yeah yeah I’ve heard it all before. Apparently we have no cap space, but we were able to make offers to Lynch in 2018 and Dixon and Kennedy this year. No cap space though, nope nothing to see here.
