Was a roller coaster this year. Not sure I’d want us to do that again

still think Essendon will go for brown as a Daniher replacement

or the pies will finally get a full forward

my smoky is the cats, have someone partner tomahawk

No as in I don't see us trading another first rounder, this year also brought up some questions about Brown.

Has he been worked out? Was it just because of North being poor? Was it all injury?

There's too many questions for mine to give up a first round pick.

You'd have to think it's a combination of all 3.

He was playing hurt, and our delivery was atrocious. However, he couldn't impact the game in other ways (just crashing a pack to bring the ball to ground) and no defensive unit looked uncomfortable against him. Both Larkey and Walker were able to have more influence up forward with shit delivery by just getting to more contests.

If McDonald goes I could see Melbourne potentially blinking and giving a first rounder (to be honest not the worst trade if that first rounder came from McDonald in the first place) but otherwise I'd agree that we are reaching to get that.
McDonald and Brown combo wouldn't be too bad though. I think both players benefit from that. An early 2nd (maybe somehow from a Neal-Bullen trade) in the uncertainty of this draft would be a decent win for the Dees I think

Pies could have used Brown tonight..

First rounder please.
He wouldn't have got a touch, ball didn't go near their forward line much.
Not sure Brown would have helped. We couldn't get our hands on the ball and wouldn't have been a lot of opportunities for him either.

We need to work on our centre clearance connection before we worry about our forward line.

He would have been completely useless last night, no versatility, and he doesn't have a great record v Geelong when it's not close. Would have been Mason Cox like which is not what the Pies need. Need more competing types who would keep the ball locked in their forward line to build some pressure in those sorts of games, less Stephenson/Cox bye bye ball types.

Isn’t Barrett a North supporter? It feels like he can’t stand the idea of Brown possibly going to Collingwood so he keeps throwing out other club names in hope they’ll agree with him and take a crack.

He hates North more than any other club at the moment.

A Lions insider has been reported as saying Brown won't be considered because he doesn't fit our playing style.

He's perfect for your game style sit him full forward and let him lead for it, Hipwood CHF.

I've been saying for weeks all over this forum, that there's few sides whose playing style Brown does suit.

For him to be productive, you've got to direct a high volume of ball his way, and that's a pretty antiquated and easily countered gameplan in today's footy, and isn't really conducive to winning games.

Nathan Buckley pretty much ruled out Ben Brown last night in the presser saying they aren't looking for the big forward type. Melbourne/Essendon at this stage.

So what you really are saying in a round about way is who ever ends up with Brown wont be winning games. Time will tell i suppose.

Not with the style of play that allows him to put up those 60 goal seasons.

He doesn't do it on individual brilliance. It's the product of an antiquated gameplan that's not conducive to winning football, and he hasn't ever proven himself to be effective outside of that type of system and style of play.

Not sure you have watched him play. No, on telly doesnt count unless it's only on a behind the goals camera.
He works best beside power forwards like Petrie, I think Hawkins would be his perfect partner. His nonstop leading breaks up opposition defences and creates space and 1 on 1's for teammates. Any forwardline (except perhaps WCE) would function better with him in it. It is ridiculous to trade him after this shambles of a season.
