just a question to both west coast and port adelaide supporters, if geelong made a move for one of the above players, what would you expect to recieve from geelong in order for a fair trade to have been made for each?

cheers

Ideally WCE would want a late first round pick or early second round. McKinley is a quality player and I would expect Woosha to want just that for him.

Ash Hansen is said to be resigning, but hes about worth a second rounder, or Gary Ablett Jnr ;-)

fair enough, is he seriously a consideration to be traded mckinley? and if it wasnt for a draft pick, what player from geelong would you say would be a fair trade? because i think another medium experienced forward is what geelong might be after.

WCE are looking for a goal sneak crumbing type forward to free up LeCras.

From Geelong i'd think we'd be interested in Varcoe and Stokes.

I don't think we would trade McKinley though.. apart from needing to work on his defensive game hes a pretty damn good medium forward.. great mark and kick. :thumbsu:

I would say that Mckinley+39 for pick 16+48 would be around the mark.
If a late first rounder was up for grabs, i'm sure that WC would be more inclined to trade him due to the probability of being able to get Jetta there.
Mckinley has said he would want to be a one club player but remours continually link him in trades back to Victoria. Combine that with his loss of favour this year and it could be a possibility.

Hansen is an interesting one. I wouldn't mind a straight swap for Stokes (or including some steak-knives), giving us a crumbing option.

besides a first round pick would anything else be a consideration for mckinley from geelong? any straight player swaps?

how many goals did he kick this year by the way?

I don't think so, unless you offered something seriously good, that we couldn't knock back, ie pick 15/16. I understand he doesn't want to leave and the Eagles don't want him to leave.

Hansen supposedly doesn't want to leave either.

I don't know about that. We're more looking for a key forward (keeping in mind Mooney's age) potential CHF type and while McKinley's decent enough, I don't think he can play that role, so I'd be surprised if we went for him.

But anyway, to indulge your hypothetical, I would say a draft pick (not a first rounder) or a fringe player trade (there's no way we're giving up any of our class players to anyone except GC). I would be happy to offer say Stokes, but he's too loved by the coach for that I think :p

So not willing to give up a class player or early pick? You won't pick up anyone decent then....

If your looking for a CHF Hansen is your man, in your team he would be at least as good as 05/06/07 and regularly kicks bags at WAFL level. He doesnt want to leave the Eagles but may be forced out the door, we certainly would rather trade him then have him play another year in the WAFL because we have Kennedy and Brown.

Wouldnt mind Hansen + #23 for #17/18
Hansen on the open market is probably worth around pick #22-25 in this draft.

Thinking about your tall forwards, Hansen would probably be one of the best right now.

i disagree, Hawkins should come better next season, am confident of that, mooney will keep playing on, and we have mitch brown to develop, and ottens who spends some time down their, i would prefer a medium forward who can play a leading role and can make quality leads and indulge in what our midfield will be providing.

2nd rounder??? Ash Hansen, 26 yr old hack, never had it, only reason he did ever kick a couple of goals a game was judd/cuz/kerr/braun now there gone (kerr soon to be). worth pick 40-60. cant even get a game against rookie cal wilson. and how is mckinley worth a late 1st, correct me if im wrong but he was dropped twice maybe three times this year?

I wouldn't trade our late 1st rounder for McKinley, considering the type of players Stephen Wells has drafted with picks around that range (e.g Harry Taylor 2 years ago).

I don't think we've traded a 1st since the Justin Murphy trade either FWIW.

You have 2 key forwards who cant get regular games with the 12th ranked team and you want a first or second rounder for both players.

Strange Indeed !

I really wish people did there homework before posting... at least go to afl.com and have a quick look!

McKinley kicked 42 goals in the 15th ranked team last year and won our rookie of the year award. He has played 17 games this year for a return of 30 goals dropped twice for defensive issues in the forward 50 which he is showing signs of addressing. Hardly struggling to get regular games as a key forward in his second year since debue...

Hansen is a 26r old contrated premiership CHF if a club knocks on the door and says we want him that is what we would expect to be compensated. He is a good player he just wont be there for our next crack and we have two blokes that will who are played before him.

Hansen is a spud.

No club is going to cough up pick 22-25 for him.

Go have a look at the OP's question, what do you think WC would ask for Hansen? Ive got a pretty good feeling that is what they would ask considering he is contracted...

Then thats our fault for giving him such a long contract. Hansen has practically no worth to us as at all. As much as the Eagles may be saying in public that he is required player, the reality is we will give him up for a pack of twisties if we can come trade week.

In the last 10 years we have never just given a player away in a trade for peanuts what makes you think we will start now.. the closest thing to what your saying is Michael Gardiner because he was a fk hed and Callum Chambers because he was never an AFL footballer. Either we get what we want or Hansen stays on the list and plays out his contract before being de-listed... thats just how we trade.

Were not Richmond/Fremantle...

I didn't say that. My comment was only in relation to the thread itself. In other words, a club in a premiership window like us would more likely be willing to trade a first round pick than a club that is bottoming out (and thus wants more picks).

But we wouldn't give a first rounder for mckinley as he's not worth that much.

2nd rounder or other player swaps maybe, but no way a first rounder.
