I want to believe!Cal Twomey and Riley Beverage on Gettable today said that opposition clubs are starting to resign themselves to the fact Holmes is staying - hold up seems to be deciding between a two or four year contract.
There was that bald guy.
If hunt started a podcast I would subscribe
My main takeaway from that was those two blokes desperately need to find new barbers.Cal Twomey and Riley Beverage on Gettable today said that opposition clubs are starting to resign themselves to the fact Holmes is staying - hold up seems to be deciding between a two or four year contract.
Kelly, prior to that it was probably Colbert tbh.
Pick 10 ishWhat do non Geelong supporters think Holmes is worth in a trade sense
I would physically throw the phone against a wall if offered thatPick 10 ish
That's great and all but make me a case for why he should be worth any more than that? At the moment he's excelled on the wing and at half back but yet to show he can make the grade as a permanent on baller.I would physically throw the phone against a wall if offered that
He's not a flanker long term. A club trading him in as one would be within their rights to price him at that but if they are they don't know what they're trading for and aren't valuing him as highly as Geelong is.That's great and all but make me a case for why he should be worth any more than that? Thats about the going rate for high end line flankers who are OOC.
If he starts dominating as a pure on baller later this year then obviously his value would go up.

Being ooc we wouldn't have a great deal of choice in the matter but I would be extremely f*ed off about it
I can't stand to watch either of them on camera. They just project this image of need who tried to be cool and adopt the hipster look but could never fully commit and end up in a weird hybrid middle ground. My main takeaway from that was those two blokes desperately need to find new barbers.

What do you think he's worth on the market OOC?
If we're going off projected upside why did Geelong refuse to pay what Collingwood was asking for Ollie Henry?
So you'd be expecting a top 5 pick for a half back who pinch hits on ball a few times a quarter?Holmes already takes midfield rotations and when he does he's been great, he just has to pick his battles because he hasn't developed the upper body strength yet. So I don't think it's correct at all to say he's just a flanker right now.
His worth would be a lot more than we'd get. I'm not saying you're wrong on the valuation, just that I'd be angry enough to slash the oppo recruiters tires and egg his house.
And Holmes is playing every game available and has been since maybe round 5 of his first season. The coaches have been waking the walk in developing him for the midfield role they've flagged. I feel like that's a long way from being stuck in the 2s behind Ash Johnson.
I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I would be angry. It's like trading out Will Day as a general defender the year before he starts playing in the midfield.
Yep, they're in this no mans land of trying to be cool and alternative while still having all the characteristics that made them nerds in the first place.I can't stand to watch either of them on camera. Don't get me wrong, Holmes has some amazing traits as a player but sometimes those shifts in roles don't work out. Andy McGrath playing tonight excelled having stints on ball after playing primarily half back early days and now he's back to playing as a very good half backer after they realized he just wasn't suited to being a full time mid.
Holmes is what he is for the time being and would be valued as such, Adam Cerra was a much more proven midfield prospect with similar output at the same age and was traded for Pick 6.
Pick 10 is about right.
Yep, Ollie Henry is a prime example of that. Homesick living 1 hour up the road... Joe Daniher drives from bloody Noosa each week for training. Would only be fair for the Cats to get stiffed a few times back for that con.All I'm saying is that it's not realistically achievable to salvage anything like his actual value in any trade for him.
We'd be getting robbed, it would be unfair, but sometimes unfair things happen.
I don't think it's comparable really. Henry was in the vfl and Collingwood got a Brownlow medallist midfielder critical in a flag out of that trade. For a surplus player.Yep, Ollie Henry is a prime example of that. Homesick living 1 hour up the road... Joe Daniher drives from bloody Noosa each week for training. Anyway Holmes is reportedly likely to stay so it's a moot point.
You know as well as I do that Pies fans were absolutely ropable re that trade.I don't think it's comparable really. Henry was in the vfl and Collingwood got a Brownlow medallist midfielder critical in a flag out of that trade. For a surplus player.

Geelong had him pull out the home sick card to try and garner sympathy but every person who follows footy knew it was an absolute crock of s**t.
Anyway i still haven't really heard an argument as to why he'd be worth more than pick 10 or what Cats fans realistically believe he's worth? He's a clear tier below the absolute top young mids in the competition and there's still some level of uncertainty as to what his best position going forward is.
He'd slot into just about any team in the comp and be best 22 but I doubt he'd be a top 5 player at many.
No there isn't and as I said I think he'll stay at the Cats anyway. Would still love him at the Blues to pair with Walsh as the ultimate running combination.Well there's nothing forcing then to trade for him.
He was never homesick, he left to play with his brother and he was always going to.You know as well as I do that Pies fans were absolutely ropable re that trade.

I can understand why Pies supporters would be pissed...but the reality is we all saw this coming.
We had posters on our board who know the Henry family, and prior to the draft they were telling us that no matter where he ended up, he'd be back at Geelong in short order, or wherever Jack was playing.
If randoms on the internet have access to that kinda info, but the Pies recruiters can't sniff it out...then they've only got themselves to blame.
