This historic series is back, this time in Lahore for its last thrilling instalment. We head in to the match with it all to play for having witnessed 2 draws in the the first 2 matches of the series the second a bit more exciting for the fans than the first thanks to Australia's 1st innings bowling efforts and Pakistan's 2nd innings batting.
This will be the first test match Lahore has hosted since the infamous abandoned test of 2009 when the visiting Sri Lankans team bus was targeted by terrorists. Those hoping for a pitch with a touch more in it for the bowlers at Gaddafi Stadium had their hopes dashed when Australian captain Pat Cummins on the eve of the Test said that pitch looked similar to the first 2 of the series.
The 5 matches it has hosted this season in Pakistan's domestic Quaid-e-Azam Trophy have also all been dominated by the bat and none of them have got to a 4th innings.
Cricket Australia report that "in those five games, the mean batting effort has yielded 7-374 with just 97 wickets taken across those 14 innings at an average of 54 runs apiece, with just three of those batting efforts resulting in a team being bowled out." Great.
Australia are back to naming their team 24 hours before the match for some reason so we know that they are going in unchanged:
1 David Warner, 2 Usman Khawaja, 3 Marnus Labuschagne, 4 Steven Smith, 5 Travis Head, 6 Cameron Green, 7 Alex Carey (wk), 8 Mitchell Starc, 9 Pat Cummins (c), 10 Mitchell Swepson, 11 Nathan Lyon
Pakistan will also likely go in unchanged although this is not confirmed yet (EDIT: 1 change. Naseem Shah in for Faheem Ashraf):
1 Abdullah Shafique, 2 Imam-ul-Haq, 3 Azhar Ali, 4 Babar Azam (c), 5 Fawad Alam, 6 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 7 Nauman Ali, 8 Sajid Khan, 9 Hasan Ali, 10 Shaheen Shah Afridi, 11 Naseem Shah
