CA favours Perth so much we've only had six tests in the past ten years.Of course Perth won’t lose their test but it’s ridiculous that CA favours them. In the future they should just get what they are given and reward Adelaide for doing the right thing.

Remind me the last season Adelaide didn't have a test match?
Those are the most expensive seats. Also value for money/sugar hit (3 hrs compared to 8)

Combined projected revenue of $60 million for the Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests, shared exclusively with this masthead, mean the MCG and SCG fixtures are locked in for the foreseeable future, as Cricket Australia continues discussions about its schedule over the next seven years.
But Perth’s projected revenue is $10 million less than Adelaide in third, as South Australia and Western Australia continue a fierce battle to secure the Test match slot that was awarded to Perth this year, only to be played in front of smaller crowds than organisers hoped for.
Melbourne’s Boxing Day Test and Sydney’s New Year’s Test are the two most lucrative matches on the annual calendar, expected to rake in around $32 million and $27 million respectively over the next five years.
The Adelaide Test, which has become a highly successful “destination match” for eastern states tourists since the oval was redeveloped a decade ago, and is often played as a day/night fixture, is projected to collect gate and corporate box receipts worth more than $20 million over that time.
But Perth, or the “West Test”, is projected to bring in just $11 million over the same period.
One year, to try and reverse a trend, but still against smaller opposition. Adelaide gets the D/N Test, Melbourne get Boxing Day, Sydney get New Year. If Perth got any of those, people would turn out.Perth was favoured this year, CA changed the whole schedule to suit them and they still couldn’t be bothered turning up
Breaking news: venues with most favourable fixturing make more money. Some alarming figures.Revealed: The Test venues that are set to bring in the most – and least – money
Projected figures, shared exclusively with this masthead, are a blow to Perth and a boon for Melbourne and Sydney.www.theage.com.au
Another excerpt from this harsh article which suggests Perth is a cricket hellhole.
Sydney and Melbourne have the biggest population of all the capital cities so surely they should get the biggest attendances.Biggest problem with Sydney in the new year is the weather.Breaking news: venues with most favourable fixturing make more money.

Afraid we can not change the weather, complete opposite in Melbourne and see the game at Junction oval today has been delayed by rain.Looking a lot better this year, mind you we badly need some rain to be honest been stinking hot here

Adelaide has a day test against the Windies this yearAdelaide gets the D/N Test,
Adelaide is starting on a Wednesday this year.ignore mitigating factors, like starting on a Thursday,
That's not true.To be fair a couple of them was because your premier wouldn't let anyone in the state. I didn't have a problem with this attendance this year though it's about par for what I expected against a side that is mediocre at best.
You've said yourself that a large percentage of attendees don't even watch the cricket, it's all about the piss-up.Adelaide has a day test against the Windies this year
Adelaide is starting on a Wednesday this year.
And yet with those two factors in play I’d be shocked if Adelaide didn’t get a higher attendance than Perth.
Would almost be certain that if that test Perth just had was played in Adelaide as a day test and starting on a Thursday that 80k would’ve been achieved
Let’s not forget that Perth did get a D/N against the same opposition as what Adelaide got and still couldn’t draw the same numbers as Adelaide.
I’m sure there are more excuses that Perth folk will find but at the end of the day they just aren’t interested in tests
We had to pay otherwise CA would gift the slot to WA each year and they still wouldn’t get a decent crowd. You've said yourself that a large percentage of attendees don't even watch the cricket, it's all about the piss-up.
If South Australians were that interested in the cricket, the SACA wouldn't have to spend $2 million a year to CA to get the best timeslot.
That's not true.
The WA Government offered a couple of different ways to change/work around COVID restrictions but CA refused. One required a few extra days between tests, the other was to have the tour start in Perth, but CA wanted the Ashes to start at the Gabbatoir.
And anyway, two of them were because India wanted four tests.
We had to pay otherwise CA would gift the slot to WA each year and they still wouldn’t get a decent crowd.
WA folk have to stop blaming everyone else for their fickle fans woeful turnout
Rubbish.Keep going with day games before Christmas especially against relative minnows you will struggle to get more than Perth did
Weather should be fine for the rest of the week now, at least the humidity has dropped off.Afraid we can not change the weather, complete opposite in Melbourne and see the game at Junction oval today has been delayed by rain.
Rubbish.
Would guarantee that if Adelaide had the exact same time slot as Perth did it would have been a 80k crowd
Seems like the only one whingeing about the crowd is you not WA folkWe had to pay otherwise CA would gift the slot to WA each year and they still wouldn’t get a decent crowd.
