I don’t disagree with you but you can’t just remove a team from an analysis because you don’t rate them, when they squared the series, and have competed with basically everyone they’ve hosted for the better part of a decade bar India

Fine. He still averaged 27 aside from that great 4-test run patch, and 26 from 2016-2023, which is the main point. He didn't actually have a superior average for the bulk of his career than the guys the other poster was comparing him to.

His form in 2014-2015 and its positive impact on his - still very poor - away historical average shouldn't distract from the level of batsmen we were selecting for nearly a decade after that.
