Dragons by alot. 8 goals odd, think their run will be to much for Gisborne at the QEO. Now that Sandhurst are fit they (Gisborne) wont control them like they did at Huntly. Think Square will win but Eaglehawk may worry them with tall forwards v Dogs not overly tall defence. Confident the Dragons play the Hawks in prelim and it will be the game of the Finals..:footy:
Lee Coghlan and Jack Geary to relish finals at the QEO this week....

Anybody seen the ad on the website, whats the point of Bristow being there?? Doesnt get a look in

8 goals was correct - however the rest of your post is all wrong.

Gissy with Saunders back in the side will set up a great game against Eaglehawk next week. They were far to good for Sandhurst today.

Am looking forward to watching the Square boys in 2 weeks, haven't had the chance to watch them this year! Hopefully the ressies and thirds get in as well.:thumbsu:

A disappointing end for us Sandhurst supporters. I think living on the edge since July took its toll. Still there is always next year - lets hope it is a big one.

Full credit to Gisborne. They remind me of the Echuca teams of the early 1970's coached by Graham Arthur. They hunted in packs and never gave their opponents a breath of fresh air. All about pressure - not pretty to watch, but very effective.

I am not going to knock my own club, but the Dragons use of the interchange bench - boy!!! At one stage in the 2nd quarter when Sandhurst were changing ruckmen off the bench, Rodney Sharp wandered onto the field, strolled down to full forward, stood 30 yards out from goal and not one Dragon player comes within a country mile of him. You'd think he had Ross River fever. The ball is kicked to him for an easy goal. I knew then the game was over.

cuz ben and henry --- weeka did NOT start at f-f bristow fllled that role in 1st quarter weeka got a run across h-back and on the wing carts trying to be xtra cute, n succeeding, in throwing burra matchups into chaos

Not being critical of Weeks at all, just highlighting how the low-scoring nature of the game might have given the Hawks something to hang their hat on.

Since you've clarified it though, the coach's move was a little peculiar. I would have thought that with someone who dominates the position as they do and kicks so many goals, that a good tactical ploy would have been to play him ... at full forward!!!:D

Weeks made his name as a HFFlanker in his juniors and was dominant when running through the guts in the minor leagues - surely most players have more than one string to their bow (as Weeks has) and any coach who wouldn't exploit that would be somewhat of a dill.

I remember in a final, Blight sat Bairstow and Couch on the pine for the first quarter to escape a tag - did work (and Couch ended up the Brownlow medalist that season).

It's all about exploiting matchups and gaining the advantage - not being Captain Obvious all of the time.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that they were too strong bodied and aggressive for us and we need a couple of hard nuts at the top of our shopping list if we are serious about challenging for a flag.

Interesting Prelim Final awaits with Eaglehawk set to get a couple back in and Gisborne set to play better than a fortnight ago. Gissy by a point I think they will have it in their head that they can compete with Square better than E'Hawk who have been blown to bits everytime.

I also think Luke Saunders playing at full forward makes a big difference to Gisborne. Last Sunday he kicked a couple of opportunist goals in the first quarter against the flow of play when the Dragons looked like they might break the game open. When he kicked those goals the entire Gisborne side lifted and never looked back.

Leaning towards Gisborne myself. One decent win and you will see they are a much better team that a fortnight ago. That little voice inside the Eaglehawk minds might be questioning what the point of another Square clash is.

Yep, can't argue with that. You can never get complacent, but I reckon Carter holds all the cards and Eaglehawk is the team that has to come up with something. No-one else has been able to deal with Weeks and win a game.

In many ways coaching this GS side is like a poisoned chalice, because it basically could coach itself, it is that good and as such Carts won't receive half the kudos he deserves - but he does deserve them - for getting the list together and getting them to gel together, and it always pays to have at least one or two rabbits in your hat.

Similar in many ways to Dekka, whom I think has the respect - but will only have the true appreciation for what he has done as a coach over his career when he takes Kyneton into the finals as opposed to the 'cheque book spending' that many around here think is the norm.

Both great thinkers of the game.

Daryl wilson on Central Vic footy review is interesting with key match ups not referring to Luke Saunders
Just go to show Daryl Wilson isn't the B, all & end all that the so called Guru's think he is. Why even ask him that question

Any results from today

I know there was a 3 way tie in the 2's with Luke Rosa, Garner both from square and Marc O'Rielly winning

Very prestigious medal! ;)

Good effort considering how his side went this season:thumbsu:

Not doubting the talents of the bloke, haven't seen him play so cannot make a judgement. But how many games did the Maine win this year?

Very sad news for the BFL, thoughts are with the Bergin family and former team mates.

Used to live in same street as the Bergin family and did not know them all that well-puts all our thoughts/ideas in perspective very sad
All the best wishes to his family and friends

Very very slow Grand Final week on here.

Tips?

I'll take square by 50points. Fingers crossed sportsbet are silly enough to have a line on the game again.

Square by 32 points I think Eaglehawk will throw caution to the wind and put some pressure on the Bulldogs but the Square should still have the answers.

What was the line they put up last year Max P? sounds like you won a bit on it.

It's been a very slow year on here Max.

I think Square would beat a combined B.F.L. side so should beat the Borough by about 10 goals.

just as well young threlly kicked that last goal for the burra y/day -- otherwise cood have been the lowest score ever in a bfl grannie
