Congrats to Square for their massive Grand Final win and securing the 3peat.

A heap of Eaglehawk boys to move on next year i believe.

I'll be making the trek back on Friday night, looking forward to seeing the boys get a hatrick!
Max, Norfolk & Chew & other Golden Square supporters.

What do you think of the idea that Square take over the (Bendigo) VFL license from the plastic Bombers?

It would give the club a real challenge - they are so strong could still have a competitive team in the BFNL.

Agree/disagree?

Interesting thought, I was actually thinking that at some stage over the weekend. They'd need to keep this domination up over a longer period for something like that to even be considered.

3 dominant years doesn't mean a heap in the long term scheme of things.

The club is becoming stronger and more professional each year though, maybe it is a long term goal, who'd know. Would be similar to that of North Ballarat.

North have pokies to support their team and as good as Square are u have no idea what is required for a VFL team

Dont forget Nic Carter was the Captain of Bendigo Bombers for some years & invovled at board level so while Nic is in control of Golden Square they would have a very good idea what it would take to survive & get up & running at a VFL level, whether they are considering heading down that path is another story.

Wasn't claiming that I did, just giving my thoughts. Don't think the club are looking at that at all, but who knows if this domination spans over a decade or so.

Oh and at least they'd have support, unlike Bendigo Bombers.

Most players like to reach the highest level their ability allows. I see no reason why a club cannot do the same. I personally think Golden Square could do what North Ballarat has done, but of course that is up to them. The present Bombers, despite their name, do not represent the Bendigo region - they are all about the self interest of the Essendon football club.

Correct - and that next year will be Essendon's last year associated with Bendigo -thank goodness. Shame it can not get rid of them for 2012 - the stench is bad enough as it is.

Weeks and Rosa being heavily courted by Rochester has been thrown around on the GV thread, with Simon Mcarty stepping down as senior coach would either of these two lads have coaching potential? Particularly Rosa?

It would not be unrealistic to suggest Weeks could get around 35k and Rosa 30k just as players for a season.

Can someone tell me who owns the Bombers VFL licence, and what is its value. I think the afl/vfl wheel is turning and most avl based Melb. clubs will have stand alone vfl clubs[Afl reserves].

Pretty sure Rosa wants to coach down the track... May well come down to whether they give him the opportunity

Pretty sure that Weeks and Rosa going nowhere, would be extremely surprised if they were to depart regardless of enormous offers that have been thrown their way, (not just from Rochy). Have to wait and see, but sense they will be in blue and golden in 2012.

I'm by no means speaking any particular season, just in general.

Would be a good opportunity for Rosa if he did want to coach, but as you said would be unlikely to see them move on, they have a golden opportunity (don't mind the pun) to create a dynasty at square. Three flags is an amazing feat as is, but I honestly think with the side square have they could continue for another 2-3 years.

Rosa may take over from Carter if he gets the BFL VFL gig.
