And I don't think you found many Freo pple saying that what Farmer did was right. Just like most Wiggles wouldn't think what Kizons did was right either.
If Farmer was our captain, I'd hope he would have been demoted after the incident occurred, same with Black.

2 wrongs don't make a right. Footballers across the entire country need to realise that they are in the public eye, they will get noticed and it will hit the headlines. It's part of the price the pay to recieve their $50-$500k per year.

No offence but Farmer is a huge role model to the Aboriginal community, you probably dont understand being white but Farmer really is a role model to Aboriginal people.

But he would not be made captain of the club. It is a fair point about Farmer, but at least he fronted court and has tried to better himself. Cousins has run away from the police.... it is a serious crime.

Does anyone want to give this man a crash course in differentiating between right and wrong (something your mummy and daddy should've told you) or is he just plain old being a douche?

Fact of the matter is club captains are role models and are club ambassadors. I have no problem with West Coast (slowly starting to build a tolerance to look past arrogance from a few exhibited on this board and like them) but I have a problem with the leader of a club committing illegal activities outside the club!

The leader of the free world George Bush has been arrested many times (I believe 4), if its good enough for him its good enough for Cuzz really

It is ok to drive under the influence and do a runner from the cops as long as you don't hurt anyone. Must remember that one for when the cops pull me up after a big night :D

Is McManus still the captain?

Didn't say it was right I said it was human we all will try to avoid penalty, I pointed out that he had hurt no-one and please read what I said "McManus was a captain "

Idiot he is not a role model, if your kids need role models get them to look at their parents.

Mate, your telling me, that no young footballer looks at Ben Cousins and says I want to be like him?

And what about the captain Jibe, you think it's good to have Cousins as your skip?

Nice Embers, comparing Cousins to a man who started a war on false pretences, causing tens of thousands of deaths. That really helps your argument.

Funny how EFH is unreachable today.

Assuming the story is correct and Cousins has admitted driving and running away from the car when he saw a Booze bus, then I think his position as captain becomes untennable.

This is similar to what Lynch did a couple of years back and he was punished by the club and told to grow up (he was 19 at the time), Cuz is club captain and has previously been given his last chance on "charachter/perception" issues last year. He has breached that last chance and cannot remain captain.

In the grand scheme of things its hardly a major offence, but its juvenile and a shocking example set by the captain of the highest profile team in the state.

IMO, the club will confirm the story and then allow Cuz the opportunity to resign, he should/will take that and then at least some dignity will be retained (i.e. as opposed to being sacked).

Just my opinion, guess we'll see.

Cheers.

More of a comparison between the US and Aus media. Id say the US media has more respect and understands that people make mistakes, I think the Aus media is turning more and more like the British which isnt a good thing

I wonder why he ran? Was it just because he was over the blood alcohol limit, or did he have something a little bit more serious on his breath...??

Who knows with the company that guy keeps?

A captain is a leader, someone you want people to follow...

Sounds like at least one guy tried to follow him, but he couldn't keep up and got caught by the cops!

Ah...some of us drive through and blow in the bag...

Yet some of us have others to clean up our mess for us.Never to be responsible for their actions.Seems a common footballing theme.

We do them no favours now, they leave footy and their whole world falls apart though not being able to run their everyday lives as whole human beings within the framework of our society.

Realistically the club would have to look at the impact on ticket sales, merchandising, sponsorship impacts, etc. Those are the sorts of things that should see Cuz given the flick. As a corporate entity WCE just can't afford this.

OPf course, Cuz could just threaten to quit the club...

None of you were there so none of you know exactly what happened.

I dont think its fair to cast aspersions on someone when you dont know the whole story.

He's co-operating with the Plods. Just like the nightclub shooting.

Booze Bus Benny will finish his career in an 8 x 8. His mate Gardy will be living next door.

Just like Craig Gowers. He now looks like an even bigger baby, whinging he has bee treat harshly by the club.Oh please.....Grow up the lot of them.

The effect on the public image of the club could be very bad.

New player and code in town with the Force.

One of their guys this week, turned up to training blowing over the zero tolerance, he has worn the wrath of the club.

Sponsors like a Clean image. Not this continual garbage.

It could be very costly.

I seem to recall a post by a certain Eagirls moderator about locking this thread. I wonder what happened to it and the subsequent replies to that post????? Hypocrisy knows no bounds in Eagirlstown

maybe they should get video replay whether he was running in a straight line or swaying. It would be funny to see. So it happens move on. Not the first player to doit wont be the last. Give the captaincy to Judd ? maybe
