It's interesting that not many best 22's in this thread include Sheehan. As an outsider, the kid looks a gem. He looked fantastic last yr despite only having just learnt to kick a footy. A preseason under his belt. I'll be stunned if he isn't best 22. Looks a natural.
I don't like the idea of a best 22 as teams have a best 25 or 26 and swap out players for development etc. He would fall into this category for me.

I hope to see Alot more of the kid this season

FoxSports take on our best 22...

CARLTON

B: Zach Tuohy, Michael Jamison, Andrew Walker

HB: Chris Yarran, Sam Rowe, Kade Simpson

C: Ed Curnow, Marc Murphy, Andrew Carrazzo

HF: Liam Jones, Levi Casboult, Tom Bell

F: Troy Menzel, Lachie Henderson, Dale Thomas

FOLL: Matthew Kreuzer, Bryce Gibbs, Chris Judd

I/C: Sam Docherty, Andrejs Everitt, Blaine Boekhorst, Dylan Buckley

Not picked: Robert Warnock, Dennis Armfield, Patrick Cripps, Jason Tutt, David Ellard, Simon White, Dillon Viojo-Rainbow

If Kreuzer can shoulder the ruckload and receive support from Casboult, the Blues can afford to play an extra midfielder. Boekhorst, who’s been forgiven for his famous Malthouse-bashing tweet, is capable of playing at AFL level straight away, after averaging 21 disposals per game in the WAFL last year. However Cripps could easily slot into the team with one AFL season now under his belt. With Jones joining the Blues’ forward line, it allows Walker to help out down back.

I just can't get behind Bell. A physical specimen to be sure. But lacking in defensive nous, he has a great attacking streak but I feel his exuberance hurts us against wily opponents

Zero peripheral vision.

Gear Change: Blinkers Off

can we really carry Carrazzo, bell, nicky G,Curnow in the same team? surely not

big fan of Curnow in many cases our best inside player,

Looks a pretty solid 22 by foxsports. I'd put Cripps in for Bell and I'd try to squeeze Whiley and Graham in that team somehow, but who comes out I don't really know, maybe Curnow and Touhy !! Curnow is an absolute warrior and one of the fittest buggers @ the club but I hope this is the year where he is fighting his absolute arse off to stay in the team or crack the best 22 because that will mean that we probably will improve !!

Just out of interest, can I ask if anything changes if the VFL/AFL terminology of 150 years "attacking" is used here, Nathan?

I think the traditional terms died when players starting 'catching' the ball and Luke hodge became a quarterback...

Not sure why everyone wants curnow out of the team his ability to run is second to none.

Agreed. If Curnow is out of the team, who's supposed to be the designated tagger? Curnow is a role player, he shouldn't be expected to pick up 30 touches and 2 goals a game.

I will have a crack for you:

B: Sheehan Jamison White
HB: Smith Rowe Docherty
C: Cripps Gibbs Thomas
HF: Yarran Henderson Boekhurst
F: Menzel Casboult Everitt
R: Kreuzer Judd Murphy
Int: Simpson Graham Dion-Rainbow
S: Bell
Em: Walker Buckley Carrazzo Curnow Touey Whiley

I'd disagree in regards to Bell, he really needs to start having a bigger impact on games.
4 goals is not a big enough impact for you?

He could maybe improve his consistency in having an impact, but to say 4 goals is not a big enough impact on a game, or he has never had an impact on a game IMO is a bit harsh !!

Bell may not be as polished as your Judds, Gibbs and Murphy's but he is a big bodied, goal kicking mid who can certainly play a role. If others are keeping Bell out of our best 22 either his form has dropped or our clubs depth has grown considerably !!

I will have a crack for you:

B: Sheehan Jamison White
HB: Smith Rowe Docherty
C: Cripps Gibbs Thomas
HF: Yarran Henderson Boekhurst
F: Menzel Casboult Everitt
R: Kreuzer Judd Murphy
Int: Simpson Graham Dion-Rainbow
S: Bell
Em: Walker Buckley Carrazzo Curnow Touey Whiley

If Smith can force his way into our 22 ahead of the emergencies you have mentioned I will be shocked !! Good for Smith, but I'd probably be a bit upset with Walker and Buckley particularly for not doing enough to be ahead of him.

If Boekhorst and Cripps are to be used from the get go, that may just top us up with newbies to start the season given Sheehan and Docherty are more likely than not to be involved also, so:

Simpson Jamison White .............. Feel pretty confident that all three player will be in the back-line.
Docherty Rowe Sheehan.............. Starting to feel that Sheehan may just get the jump on Tuohy, but nothing to qualify that.
Yarran Gibbs Boekhorst................ Have seen nothing of Boekhorst to suggest he's an in but I think he may well be.
Walker Henderson Thomas........... All three not at peak last year for injury. Would be a dream line should they all be clear of injury.
Menzel Casboult Jones.................. Pretty good idea that all three will be involved.

Kreuzer Judd Murphy ................. Again, it would be a dream to have all three injury-free.

Curnow Everitt Cripps Carrazzo... Cripps will be worked into our team sooner than later.

It's pretty tough to not have Bell, Tuohy and Buckely in the side but at whose expense and why?
Tutt, Whiley and Graham will also have claims for round 1.
