Heard Mooney on the way home at about 6.45pm was interviewing a Aussie basketballer and he says "this is really a golden era for the boomers right now, you must be rapt" the guy say well we haven't won or done anything yet....starts back peddling..laugh out loud stuff

Mooney is a self important d/head
Having the good luck to twice fall in with a group of far more talented players gets you a job at SEN.

However it does not mean that you know what you're talking about.

You might be right if we had a list like Hawthorn or Sydney. But we don't. Carrazzo is a smart ball winner who runs both ways. Running both ways is something many of his teammates struggle with. That's why Andrew will be in the side while others with better skills will be running around with the ants.

If you can remember back to 2012 before the Essen....* game he was playing an offensive role that made him the number one target each week.
Andrew had graduated to being a full on offensive Midfielder with the complete defensive package. Then Essen....*

That piece of human waste Lonergan and calf injuries have really cruelled the twilight of his career. Would love to see him play some more great footy before he's officially a cooked carrot.

Mooney is an idiot.

Having said that, I think he's right about us not playing finals. I think we will have a similar year to last except for the fact we will be improving rather than falling backwards.

Our best 22 will have some young guns that will be better for having this season coming up.

I'm not so sure about that. Kreuzer is effectively a recruit for us in 2015, and we play so much better when he's fit and firing. Even Judd coming through a full preseason makes us stronger. Much will depend on how our forward line gels with Jones coming in, and can Rowe repeat his year from last year. IF everything goes right for us, there's no reason why we can't finish in the bottom half of the top 8.

That's all good and well but every team in the comp has similar stories and will also improve. Our recruits were young and were for the future - not so much now.

I wouldn't expect Kreuz to have the immediate impact you're expecting either. He hasn't played in a year and a half and will need to work his way in.

I very much hope I'm wrong but I can list 10 teams that are better than us next season. Not always the way it works out of course but we'll have to be playing pretty well for the majority of the season for us to get that spot.

That "dog act" still boils my blood, Carrots was in career best form the 3 games before that racking up possessions and shutting down his opponent, he was our heart for that brief period and and that red and black scum ripped it out in that game. Ironically Malthouse was on special comments that game and commented on the incident and you could hear it in his voice that he thought it was a low act

I think Carazzo is done. I wouldn't have him in our best 22 and we seem to have a plethora of midfielders that can tag if required these days. He's not really quick enough to do enough damage going forward either.

I would love for him to completely prove me wrong though!

Well, he was far from done this time last year as I was surprised just how nimble and mobile he was.

Is looking good again this year but more soft tissue issues could be a real problem for AC, going forward.
This time last year/this year unfortunately means diddly squat. We don't pay players to be fit in January. The harsh reality (and I'm aware this is incredibly blunt) is that AC did next to nothing last season and has only got older since.

Like I said, I'd really love for him to prove me wrong but I reckon the younger guys have gone past him.

Carrazzo will be playing the year as a 31y.o. That's not that old.
It's funny that we don't plant the same age constraints upon Mitchell, Gibson, Hodge, Lake, Hale..........who are all either around Carrazzo's age or older.

I'm all for the young guys going past him but they haven't done that yet.
You can't tell me that Cripps, Whiley, Graham and Walsh have shown more than Carrazzo yet..........Not yet.
That's because those players you listed haven't spent long periods of time injured.

I would suggest he's competing with Curnow myself. Even out of the guys you listed, I'd prefer them to be getting games over AC. Just my opinion.

I can't see Carrazzo playing much VFL to be honest.

If he's no longer worthy of a spot in the senior side due to injuries and/or senility, no doubt he'll announce his retirement mid season to give a kid a chance off the rookie list.

But if we're still in finals contention in July, it'll be because Carrots has turned back the clock.

Wouldn't that leave his body...................fresher? Maybe and maybe not and his soft tissue injuries would be an issue, no doubt.

I put up a table here the other day of centre square involvements for our last game of the year.
How many involvements did Curnow have? Zero......not one centre square involvement whilst Carrazzo had 23 of 30......Makes one think, doesn't it?

Maybe they're not competing for the same spot as much as some may seem to feel that being the case.
Fair enough.

I just don't see the point of him taking games off kids when he's not in our next premiership side. For instance, I'd rather see Cripps run around this season than AC. Which I know is unpopular and everyone will and that's fine.

Mitchell spent a fair bit of time on the sidelines with soft tissue injuries from memory
Yep, he did a bit this season. To be fair to him though, his last game was a reasonable one in a winning gf.

I just tried to do a best 22 again, and I'm stuffed if I know who is going to be lining up Round 1. I have a sneaking suspicion that we may all be very surprised and a really new looking Carlton Football Club could be lining up.

I have a sneaking suspicion that your sneaking suspicion is on the money.

Carazzo is undervalued. One of our best clearance mids. Ranks 35th in the comp for clearances 12th for tackles

Not to lose the fact he picks up 20 touches a game last season.
