C: Gaff - Priddis - Masten
HF: Wellingham - Darling - Hill
FF: Lecras - Kennedy - Cox

RR: NN - Scooter - Shuey

Int: Rosa - Hutchings - Brown - Sheed (Ellis if fit)

Sheppard, Carter, Lycett, Smith, Dalziell, Mcgovern waiting for injuries.

Players who can run there guts off and kick on the wings.
Best Ball winners on ball.
Pace and skill from the re-bounders out of the back line.
Best Markers up forward.

Nice Team. We're still lacking midfield class! Defence & Forward Lines look great!

Yeo adds some pace and flexibility in the backline. I have concerns on his kicking skills though.

Our depth looks thin. We need some young players to really come on and knock down the throats of the 22.

Would like to something like this in round 1;

C: Gaff - Priddis - Yeo
HF: Masten - Kennedy - Darling
FF: Lecras - Lycett - Cox
RR: NN - Scooter - Shuey

Int: Wellingham - Ellis - Carter
Sub: Pick 11

B: Glass Brown Schofield
HB: Hurn MacKenzie Waters
C: Yeo Priddis Gaff
HF: Wellingham Kennedy Shuey
F: Cox Darling LeCras
Foll: Naitanui Masten Selwood
Int: Ellis Butler Hutchings
Sub: Garlett, Cripps or Sheed

Fringe: Cripps, Wilson, Tunbridge, Hill, Rosa, Smith, Carter, Sheppard

Depending on opposition teams forward structure, if they play 3 talls, a toss up between Brown and Schoey. Otherwise Wilson instead who has that ability to play tall and small. Glass can take a small forward as well. I would like to see Waters rotated onto the forward flank more often next year to look after that body of his and believe he can be damaging with a left footer up there. Missing that flexibility without Nico. Butler, Ellis or Yeo can drop back and cover half back. Lecca needs to accept a more permanent role deep in the forward line next year, as long as the likes of those mids ive mentioned stay fit he shouldn't be required to run through the middle. We need him back to his 2010 form, crumbing and slotting set shots. I'd rather see Darling be the stay at home forward with his aerial and ground skills. Kennedy to be more of a leading link option off forward 50.

I think that will be more our starting 22. It looks bloody good

Hill is definite best 22. Butler is a good option though should be surpassed by others - Handy depth.

Kennedy will be our stay at home forward. Darling does his best work up the ground as a roaming CHF or HFF.

Would you be rotating NN cox & Lycett through the ruck or leave one of cox/lycett as the FF?? Cox could maybe play FF but not sure about lycett. That would be land of the giants down there if that's how we set up.

I'm finding it really tough to make a team here. With Simpson I think there is definitely going to be some change in the way that we line up. I still feel a lot of us are making team's similar to what we believe that Worsfold would make them. Then there's also the players that I think will probably play but were'nt playing last season.

I think Tunbridge will play a fair few games
Yeo to play on the ball not in the backline
Ellis to play

Interesting to see not many rate hill or butler as best 22.
Green Vest for 2014, I reckon Waters if fit could play that defensive forward role. Yeh im not sure why you wouldnt rate Butler. When he is fit and stringing games hes one of our most important players

That would be idea, the plan for me would be to get Darling playing off a flank and running down the line. Should he get to experiment with some spurts in the middle so be it, if it doesn't work (I don't think he is a great mid prospect, more a flanker) it would still be good for his development I feel.

Fully agree with this, he can't play the permanent CHF role, just a touch too small I reckon, have him running off a flank and we have to try him in the middle, might not work but worth a go, at least in the NAB, or whatever the hell it's going to be next season.

My best 22 with everyone fit for round 1:

HB: Waters Schofield Hurn

C: Yeo Masten Gaff

HF: Masten Mcgovern Darling
F: Lecra JK Cox

RR: Nic Nat Scooter Wellingham

Depth:

- Darling,Ellis and Lecra to float into the midfield
- Mcgovern should be given a shot at CHF. Could also give Mcinnes a go at some point.
- Shuey and Priddis to have stints up front.
- Rosa to have a new position down back.
- Yeo to play as a wingman but have stints in the back.
- Gaff i hope in the off season bulks up more so he can handle taggers better.
- JK to be a stay at home forward.
- Scooter to be the enforcer/tagger

Pretty hard for him to do if he's not even in the team. I presume he is meant to be in one of mastens two spots?

If cripps is in the team over priddis i will eat my hat. Given i don't have a hat im going to have to buy one and then eat it, except lucky for me thats not going to happen.

I just think Priddis needs to be phased out or he needs to be flexible in another role. Priddis gets the ball a lot but he turns it over too much for my liking. I'd prefer 4 mids to share the load more and hit more targets making the side more potent and efficient with its ball use. That in turn means opposition sides cant just zone off thier man waiting for us to turn it over as they'd need to be more accountable.

How I think we'll line up, tentatively.

B: Hurn Mackenzie Glass
HB: Waters Schofield Carter
C: Rosa Wellingham Gaff
HF: Masten Darling Hill
FF: LeCras Kennedy Cox

R: Naitanui S. Selwood Shuey

I/C: Yeo Priddis Cripps

Sub: Sheed/Acres/Pick 11

I'm really interested to see what changes Simpson brings to the table. Both personnel wise and any positional changes but I'll go with this

BACKS: Carter/ Butler (take best opposition small forward) - Mackenzie - Glass

HALF BACKS: Hurn - Schofield - Waters

CENTRE: Hutchings - Selwood - Gaff/ Ellis

HALF FORWARD: Wellingham (goal kicking mid) - Darling - Cripps (defensive forward *crosses fingers*)

FORWARDS: Cox - Kennedy - LeCras

FOLLOWERS: Naitanui - Masten - Shuey

INTERCHANGE: Sheppard - Priddis - Rosa - Ellis/ Gaff

  • One of Butler/ Carter get a run. Can't fit both and Waters in the back 6
  • Ellis will support Gaff well i think and bring another lefty to the mix. Gaff still building physically and will learn have learnt to shake a tag better during the off season hopefully
  • I really hope Cripps or Sheppard can put some pressure on Hill for a forward line spot
  • Yeo will be a good depth player and eventual replacement for Waters off HB IMO
  • Pick 11 will hopefully be a good depth midfielder

Carter - Mackenzie - Glass
Hurn - Brown - Yeo/Waters
Gaff - Priddis - Rosa
Wellingham - Darling - Masten
LeCras - Kennedy - Cox
Naitanui - Shuey -S.Selwood

Hutchings/Dalziel - Sheed (if drafted) - Schofield - Ellis

that would be awesome, does that mean we may look at Mckarthy at 11
I was waiting until I spoke to a friend that works with the eagles before I replyed to you. He said that they traded pick 6 because they rate Yeo extremely high, and believe that no one will pick up their player, so they didn't see a value in keeping 6. There is defenatly no 'gentlemens agreement' between eagles and collingwood on the passing of players and he didn't say who we would pick up but said don't be surprised if we pick a up a tall. With the rumours of darling playing middle, I wouldn't be surprised to hear Cameron McCarthys name being called out at 11.
