Re the statistical comparison, sheez moved into the midfield just prior to the mid way point of the season.

Played 1 average game in there, then exploded in the second half of the season.

Thus his averages are the product of two totally different positions. This is best illustrated looking at goals

Round 1-10 =1 goal
Round 11-22 = 13 goals

Kicked goals in 9/11 games when moved into the midfield/resting forward

This thread forced me to check Suns list.

At the beginning of 2025 season, 25 players will be under 25. For me, 11 of them are best 22 (in bold), another 8 competing for best 22.

Long list of talent headed by Andrew, Rowell, Anderson, Flanders, King entering prime or close to.

Complemented by Humphrey, Walter, W Graham, Read, Moyle, Uwland, Rogers, Lombard, Clohesy.

Rosas, Jeffrey, Davies, Budarick, Johnston competing for spots.

To complete list, remaining players, 3 drafted this year C Graham, Bell, Knobel, Gulbin.

Surely, Suns should be amongst top 3 teams under 25.

I would also add Powell and Ballard who are 25.

Hasn't played much footy before this year so understand why he wasn't included but will flag Elijah Hollands as a potential riser in these rankings.

Only 16 players in the whole competition averaged >17.5 disposals and >0.75 goals per game in 2024 and he was one of them. The only five under the age of 25 were Nick Daicos, Jason Horne-Francis, Chad Warner, Izak Rankine and Elijah Hollands. Playing largely as a high HF and doing it in his first real full year of football is pretty impressive imo.

I do agree on Hollands but I'd throw Oliver Dempsey there as well, he had a great year.

17.4 disposals, 0.9 goals and 1.0 goal assists per game in 2024 from a wing with the odd spell at half forward. Only 32 senior games into his career.

I just assumed Dempsey would be in the top 25 tbh. Shocked he isn't - looking like he is going to be a star

Suns are a bit like the boy who cried wolf when it comes to youth.

Some players are proven, most have a lot to prove.

Interested to see whether Hardwick can get the team to a new level this year.

The parameters for selection in the article are so vague. If the list is 'pick which player you want for the remainder of their career' I doubt anyone doesn't have Sam Darcy at 1.
Under 25 makes it such a weird age profile (I get they picked it due to the year). You have multiple guys who are 23/24 and are really starting the prime of their career and as such have multiple top line awards and accolades like AAs, but then you have guys like Darcy or younger who are barely into their career and still getting judged on potential. Its apples and oranges to try and mix them together and judge them

A lot underestimating Rankine, his ability to win games is second to none, is rated 6th best on this list and top 10 on champion data overall by midway through the season. Unfortunately dropped down the list due to lack of game time after doing his hammy during his MCG BOG performance, then been KO'd by dirty port play for the end of the year.
