What about most underrated FB defender Prestigiacomo. Always keeps forwards to low scoring.

I'd have Presti before a Scarlett any day of the week.

I'll always admit that Fletcher is one of the greatest defenders ever, but never say he is the greatest FB.
Same goes for Scarlett.

You all know the reasons. (the last 2 times Cats have played Hawks Scarlo has lined up on Campbell Brown. FB's dont do that!)

Lake is the best FB at the moment.

Cam Fisher would have to be right up there, been great the last few years for the Saints.

Scarlett tied with SOS for the greatest of all time, in my opinion. It's hard to compare the two because of the wildly different games they played in.

Scarlett or SOS. I'd be tempted to put Scarlett just in front but it's hard to fairly compare players from different eras, so maybe both of them.

Can't go past those who mentioned SOS but I do have a soft spot for David Dench. Was way ahead of his time and was a great full back through the 70's. Lake gets a shortlist as does Scarlett and Southby.

Can't talk about others prior to the 70's but maybe someone can highlight others.

The Flying Doormat was a fantastic half back flanker and was selected in that position in the AFL team of the century.

probably too hard for most of us to judge. Since I doubt there are too many 100 year olds on Big Footy.

But in the modern era, I'd probably have to say Brian Lake.

Scarlett, has a GLARING weakness. He hates running. Geelong refuses to put Scarlett on any hard running forwards. NEVER plays on Cloke. EVER. And in an interview said the forward he hated playing on the most was Chris Tarrant because he kept running him off his legs.

Scarlett doesn't like chasing opponents. Surprised more teams don't expose this. It's ppart of how we beat them by 86 in 08. Instead of staying in the goal square, Rocca ran Scarlett up the field which wreaked havoc on Geelongs defense not having him back there.

But Lake can pretty much do anything. So yeah, he gets the vote.

Presti comes close as a PURE stopper. Nothing else. In terms of goals kicked against, I think Presti is either top or top 3 isn't he?
