The Hird having a fling with French woman everyone heard about.

What I heard - from an absolutely impeccable source who worked closely with Hirdy at the time - is that he was having a long distance relationship with this woman out in the open to all his mates and colleagues and was absolutely happy as Larry. Not a care in the world.

He’s still with Tania and his kids so I’m not sure if it was untrue or they worked it out or what the go was. But the source was reliable.

Cupido?

Schwartz punted on the horses, not the pokies as far as I know.

Former Brisbane Bears player Danny Noonan was jailed for six and a half years in 2017 for 107 counts of stealing $2.5m from his clients in his job as a financial adviser in Hobart over nearly a decade at AMP Financial to feed his gambling addiction.
Noonan played 55 games for the Bears from 1991-93 and returned to TFL club Clarence and went onto win two William Leitch Medals in 1995 and 1996, which were controversial for the fact that he was caught on camera kinghitting his North Launceston opponent behind play during the 1995 TFL Grand Final.
He'll be out in about 3.5 years on parole. Always was a GRUB.
I'll never forget his kinghit on Marcus Todman at North Hobart that day. One of the dirtiest acts I've seen on a football field and how he was eligible to win the medal the following year after that was laughable.
I'll never forget the TV broadcast on the ABC when he won the 1996 William Leitch Medal and he was roundly booed and heckled by the players and board members of other clubs, especially North Launceston who really arked up when he was on stage!
Thanked Peter Walsh, crapped on for a bit then gave the North Launceston table a spray and got booed and jeered all the way off the stage on TV.
Only time I've ever seen that!

My ex-girlfriend was a barchick at a popular Hobart nightclub (now demolished) back in the 1990s around the time Ricky Ponting was becoming a star cricketer for Australia and he was relentlessly trying to land her in the cot while he was down in Hobart on cricket duties. Turned up to the club several times while in Hobart trying his luck. Can't say I blame him as she was/is pretty tidy, but still.
She knew he was engaged to that northern bird, Kellie Sainty I think her name was (it was in all the papers and on TV at the time) and she reckoned he was an absolute pest and wouldn't take no for an answer pulling the old "I play for Australia" line.
He didn't get anywhere.

Do you know the bloke who smacked him out down there?

Ponting is a punting punt of a thing.

Arrogant, cheating, entitled turd like all of the Australian cricket team post about 1995.

Ha, I heard a very different rumour. Basically Gibbs' wife was telling her friends about the possibility of moving to Adelaide, the media got wind of it and started to report it. Bryce only heard about it via the media storm it set off.

I work with one of Gibbs wife's close friends and her story was the opposite. Gibbs wanted out of Carlton, was sick of losing and used his wife wanting to return home as an excuse when his wife was more than happy to stay in Melbourne.

Surely no club in the country would be dumb enough to give Cupido money upfront in 2019..

About the 3 minute mark is the hit, and it's shocking. Check out the damage on Todman at 5:15!!!

That deserved assault charges. How the hell did the law exempt footballers from committing assault on the field?
Certainly should. I was there that day, standing on the wing just below the TV cameras in the rain and freezing cold (was lucky to be 3-4°C all day) and had to do a triple take just to work out whether I saw what I thought I saw!
I remember Chris "Cabbage" Reiwoldt, father of Jack, playing for Clarence doing similar to ex-Swan Tony Morwood from Hobart in the 1990 Preliminary Final too.
Morwood's face was a mess after that game.

The law doesn’t. The player (vicitm) would have to firstly make a complaint and provide a statement for police to investigate. Players never do this.
