Let's not forget in 2017 and the Chris Mayne recruiting debacle when no one at Collingwood apparently wanted him...

"There were a few things mixed up with (Mayne's recruitment)," Buckley said.

"It's been a tough year for 'Mayney', and we've got some decisions to make going forward with that.

to 2020...

"We need to fill that void now, but there's no doubt that examples like that have his teammates walking taller around him and probably being asked to commit just as he does."

The best $500k per season the club didn't want to spend.
Give them a break they thought it was $50000 not $5000000. Easy mistake

Not a rumour, but just a thought.
If collingwood just cut 2m in wages for next year, how much over the cap were they this year?
The silence from Ed during this debacle has been deafening, add that to the obscure reasons for ousting Treloar and getting rid of a top ten pick and rising star for “quality first round picks” really makes you wonder wtf has been going on there

They’ve signed up Grundy, Moore, JDG and Daicos for next year on much bigger deals

Try again

Not sure if its been posted but I heard GWS matched the Cameron deal because Bartel still hates Chris Scott

Who actually likes Chris Scott ?

Brad can't stand him (because he still gets called Chris by random people!).

There's gotta be a free agent driving the fire sale doesn't there? Merrett? Petracca?
Close but not quite. It's Sean Lemmens

Not that they seem to exist these days, but a sub-editor’s dream.

“Lemmens ‘Pies a tasty proposition”

Rather than Collingwood being over the cap last season it may be more a case they were going to be well over next season. Hence the fire sale. In regards to putting themselves in a Good position for FA I guess it seems that way. No doubt there’ll be several clubs out for Petracca come end of 2022

Well yes, they were going to be over the cap next season when Treloar's new deal started.

Always good value in a same game multi for anytime goalscorer. :thumbsu:

They won’t get the chance. Trac will be MFC’s highest paid player (taking over from Oliver this year) from early 2022.

There is a reason DeGoeys deal hasn't been announced an nobody tried to trade for him despite him being OOC

He will sign for a good sum and it will be heavily front loaded for 2021 freeing up space for Collingwood to hit FA next year

Where did you hear that? Out of the free agents next year he's the best of those most likely to go to the Pies.

Inside Collingwood source 9 years at 1.1 a season
