I'd say Meatloaf because it was by far the most entertaining, which is what you want at the end of the day. The acts usually suck, so may as well have them be funny.

The main issue with any GF pre-game entertainment, aside from the fact most of the crowd simply aren't interested, is the acoustics with the permitted and deployed sound systems.

Ed Sheeran and Tom Jones were great in 2014, but as with most GF live performances their on stage amplification and speaker systems, which might sound great in pub type venues, struggles with a crowd 80m away and even though they pipe the sound via the stadium's PA system, you could still barely hear it.
Ever wonder why you can usually hear the national anthem as clear as bell - that's simply because most of 100,000 crowd are not chatting away...

Comparatively, the yanks during their half time Super bowl shows deploy these massive pre-configured plug and play systems on mobile platforms that also include remote mixing and lighting control booths etc.

Sure, the AFL won't/shouldn't spend $10M on 15 minutes of entertainment but while Mr Loaf was absolutely awful, he did have a valid point about the acoustics...

This. Lucky enough to go to 19 and 20, and in 19 I had to really strain to hear anyone was even there playing at all (which I'm not unthankful for, absolute shocker lineup). But 20 was an exception to this, they set up speakers ~every 20m around the boundary (and like you said, only what was it 30k? there), could hear it all perfectly. Wouldn't be the very best entertainment but it was good stuff.
