McDonald has stepped down, not been taken out back and shot. He'll still be in the round 1 23 whether you spanners like it or not.
Indeed, like most I think the right call has been made by all concerned, so I’m not sure the dancing on a grave is needed

It seems most likely we will roll out this backline to start 2025:

B: Archer, Logue, Corr
HB: Daniel, Comben,

The other half back role looks one of the more intriguing decisions leading into the season. Mckercher, Fisher, Hardeman, Goater, McDonald all options, or maybe someone like Powell. Tough to know how things will land

McKerch & Fisher rotating for me.

If we have Archer and Daniel as locks in the back third, adding Fisher leaves us exceptionally short. Especially against a team like the dogs. If they have four genuine talls we can't go in with that set up. I think this is true for many teams actually. I still have L Mac in until Goater is ready.

Against Dogs you are right, but generally Corr, Logue & Comben is fine (or WDawson).

Rather more run and attack off HB during the year.

I choose to believe that preseason match-sim practice reports are definite signs of what's to come, and am doubling down on having Will Phillips in my Round 1 best 22.

Yep, he definitely starts.

"Definitely"?

Listen, I'm not saying this out of any grudge or bias; he genuinely was in poor form last year and was a liability.

Now that we've added players like Caleb Daniel, and have others like Hardeman and Goater coming back, I don't know if McDonald is a best 22 player for us anymore.

Don't think both Hardeman and Goater both play round 1. Then it's between McDonald, Tucker and Fisher. McDonald easily beats those two out though Tucker was decent last year.

Brayden george to the LTI to be replaced by an SSP train on
I don’t think mine has changed

Sub could be a handful of players

I am actually thinking it is becoming a lot clearer for Round 1.

B: Archer Logue Corr
Pretty much locked

HB: Daniel Comben Mc Donald
Pretty much locked, but still not sold on Charlie in defence and LMAC on thin ice

C: Scott LDU McKercher
Pretty much locked

HF: Parker Darling Simpkin
Pretty much locked

F: Curtis Larkey Zurhaar
Pretty much locked although Ford v Zurhaar???

Foll: Xerri Sheeel Wardlaw
Pretty much locked

IC:

7th defender: Hardeman - Adds a genuine runner to the mix and not overly sure other options - Not Locked
7th forward / Extra mid: Fisher / Ford - could depend on whether we add extra mid or tall
Extra Mid 1: Powell - Lock
Extra Mid 2 / Tall: Philips / Maley / Teakle - Feel we need an extra tall but if we go with Ford as the forward, could use Philips with Darling or even Charlie rucking
Sub: Fisher / Ford

By mid-year I would expect FOS and Goater to be in the 23 while my smokey is George to be in that mix.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we switch Charlie forward and promote another to the defensive post. If Dawson didn't hurt the shoulder, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Round 1 change.

You'd say this even if reports on his preseason were shit. I like the lad but attachments to players are a bit weird imo

This post doesn't have very good Will Phillips energy, Zoomer.

Adjust your life and embrace the Will.

Whilst that forward line looks good on paper, the complete lack of a small forward is alarming.

Wifi, Powell, LDU, Simpkin, Wardlaw, FOS, Kerch, Scott, Parker, Durs, Sheez

You know there’s going to be some tears and trading in 2025.

B: Archer Logue Corr
HB: Daniel Dawson Hardeman
C: Powell Parker McKercher
HF: Duursma Comben Sheezel
F: Zurhaar Larkey Curtis
R: Xerri LDU Wardlaw
I/C: Simpkin O’Sullivan Scott Darling

Sub: Phillips

Em: Fisher Stephens Ford Teakle

INJ: Goater

Picked it like a dirty nose on Jan 5. Only change I'd consider at this stage outside of Ford for Scott, would be KDawson for WDawson. But:

B: Archer Logue Corr
HB: CD WDawson Hardeman
C: Powell Parker McKercher
HF: Duursma Comben Sheezel
F: Zurhaar Larkey Curtis
R: Xerri LDU Wardlaw
I/C: Simpkin Ford Phillips Darling

Sub: Harvey

Em: O'Sullivan Goater Urquhart Goad Maley KDawson George Whitlock RHJ Bergman

If 1st XVIII player injured, their replacements: Fisher, Scott, McDonald, Tucker, Stephens, Teakle.

Next: Payne, CCJ

Looks good.

Comben to lock down CHF, no switching, no nothing. Just do.

RHJ will be in the rnd 1 team. Whether he is there the following week is up to him.
Agree. Unless his form is a debacle or injured the only way I don't see him in is if they decide a player like Wardlaw is a small forward to start the year (ie. not going to happen). We can't keep rolling out a mid+ sized forward line.
