I would like to see what people think about which National draft list from what year, would make the best team.
For example:

2001 TEAM
FB:C.Brown(HAW) M.Maguire(STK) B.Harris(WBD)
HB: D.Swan(COL) G.Polak(RICH) J.Gram(STK)
C:N.Dal Santo(STK) C.Judd(WCE?) S.Mitchell(HAW)
HF:L.Hodge(HAW) J.Waite(CARL) G.Ablett Jnr(GEL)
FF:p.Medhurst(COL) A.Hansen(WCE) S.Johnson(GEL)
R: D.Hale(KANG) J.Bartel(GEL) L.Ball(STK)
INT: M.Seaby(WCE) D.Rodan(PORT) L.Montagna(STK) B.Reiley(ADEL)
EMER:J.Kelly(GEL) A.Welsh(ESS) X.Clarke(STK)

2002 TEAM
FB: D.Bell(MELB) D.Merrett(BRIS) L.Fisher(STK)
HB:J.Winderlich(ESS) B.Staker(WCE) A.Mackie(GEL)
C:B.Goddard(STK) D.Wells(KANG) K.Simpson(CARL)

I would reckon Michael Pettigrew would be ahead of Kepler in that 2003 team.

2000 Draft (excludes rookies):

FB:G.Johncock (Ade) A.Mcphee (Ess) J.Hunt (Gee)
HB: C.Jones(Nth) D.Pratt (Nth) L.Ablett (Syd)
C: K.Cornes (PA) D.Kerr (WC) D.Cassisi (PA)
HF: K.Pettifer(Rich) N.Reiwoldt(Stk) A.Didak (Col)
FF: M.Williams (Haw) J.Koschizke (StK) D.Motlop (PA)
R: J.Charman (Bris) D.Cross (WB), S.Burgoyne (PA)
Int: D.Harris (Nth) A.Buchanon (Syd) C.Newman (Rich) J.McMahon (WB)

A very good side that is probably a fullback away from being the single best side of the lot.

Whoa, that is a good team! Judd, Dal Santo, Mitchell, Hodge, Bartel, Ball - all in the top bracket of midfielders.

- Malceski on before Winderlich
- Salopek on for Watson
- Laycock would get the second ruck spot before Cloke easily imo.

Drew Petrie.

You could add Roger Hayden and Max Rookie into that defence, were Rookies of that year.

1999 Draft was impressive.

B: Bateman (HAW) Glass (WCE) Makepeace (KANGA)
HB: Enright (GEEL) Hunter (WCE) Gilbee (WB)
C: Fiora (RICH) Haselby (FRE) Bruce (MELB)
HF: Chapman (GEEL) Brown (BRIS) O'Keefe (SYD)
F: Green (MELB) Pavlich (FRE) Davis (COLL)

R: Fraser (COLL) Corey (GEEL) Ling (GEEL)

I: B. Johnson (COLL) Hille (ESSE) Murphy (WB) McPharlin (HAW)

E: Biglands (ADE) Giansiracusa (WB) Guerra (PORT)

2000 Draft:

FB:G.Johncock (Ade) D.Petrie (Nth) D.Pratt (Nth)
HB: A.McPhee(Ess) M.Rooke (Gee) C.Newman (Rich)
C: K.Cornes (PA) D.Kerr (WC) D.Cassisi (PA)
HF: C.Jones(Nth) N.Reiwoldt(Stk) A.Didak (Col)
FF: M.Williams (Haw) J.Koschizke (StK) D.Motlop (PA)
R: J.Charman (Bris) D.Cross (WB), S.Burgoyne (PA)
Int: D.Harris (Nth) A.Buchanon (Syd) L.Ablett (Syd) R.Hayden (Freo)

That would be my 2000 side.

Would beat the 2001 side imo. Midfield is fairly even, the 2000 Forward line is magic though

Geez missed Petrie all together. Both missed Scott Thompson as well.

Surely Hayden is in the side ahead of Newman. Hayden was a AA nominee this year. Would be a good team though. Kosi & Petree can pinch hit in the ruck

99 will be the best year IMO

1999 Draft (excluding Rookies)

FB:R.Hargraves (WB) D.Glass (WC) C.Bateman (Haw)
HB:A.Hunter (WC) L.Mcpharlin (Fre) C.Enright (Gee)
C: B.Green (Mel) J.Corey (Gee) C.Bruce (Mel)
HF:R.O'keefe M.Pavlich (Fre) D.Giansirracusa (WB)
FF:p.Chapman J.Brown (Bri) R.Murphy (WB)
M: J.Fraser (Col) P.Haselby (Fre) C.Ling (Gee)
Int: R.Biglands (Ade) A.Fiora (Stk) B.Guerra (Haw) B.Johnson (Col)

Midfield is weaker but it has it in spades over the other back lines & forward lines.

2003 TEAM
FB:J.Adcock(BRIS) S.Fisher(STK) K.Bradley(ESS)
HB:H.Shaw(COL) T.Chaplin(PORT) B.Waters(WCE)
C: D.Mundy(FREM) A.Cooney(WBD) A.Raines(RICH)

Dyson would be out, Davey would replace him.

Bradley might get a gig, but it would be because the forwardline is so damn small. He'd play CHF, Murphy FF.

2004

FB: Luke McGuane - Matthew Egan - Henry Slattery
HB: Jesse W. Smith - Tom Williams - Ryan Griffen
C: Matthew Bate - Jordan Lewis - Matt Rosa
HF: Richard Tambling - Travis Cloke - Brett Deledio
FF: Angus Monfries - Lance Franklin - Jarryd Roughead
Foll: Cameron Wood - Chris Knights - Nathan Van Berlo
Int: Lynden Dunn - Sean Rusling - Ivan Maric - Justin Sherman

2005

FB: Marcus Drum - Alipate Carlile - Shannon Hurn
HB: Grant Birchall - Patrick Ryder - Sam Gilbert
C: Andrew Swallow - Scott Pendlebury - Richard Douglas
HF: Dale Thomas - Cleve Hughes - Shaun Higgins
FF: Rhan Hooper - Mitch Clark - Travis Varcoe

2006

FB: Bachar Houli - James Frawley - Andrejs Everitt

HF: Ben Reid - Mitch Brown - Lindsey Thomas
FF: Alwyn Davey - Justin Westhoff - Nick Gill
Foll: Matt Leuenberger - Ricky Petterd - Travis Boak
Int: Scott Gumbleton - Brad Dick - Nathan Krakouer - Tom Hawkins

These are done pretty much entirely on what has been shown to date, so they're not as accurate and/or defined as some of the others...

That 2004 team looks pretty damn good though...

Adam Pattison has done a lot more than both Wood and Maric.
He's shown that he's a dud kick and a useless tap-ruckman in many more opportunities than either player.

I figured I'd include the guys who have looked promising, with much room to improve, rather than a guy who's shown that he lacks several vital components of a good ruckman.
