Lot of new bookies going "defunct"... just seen the list. So these greedy mobs would have spent over $150,000 + easily to set up their "white label" betting sites on genweb and betmakers, and after a few months of wasting money on google ads, they realised it's not paying off. Good. These new bookies missed the boat... pack ya bags.

Bookiebet.com.au was listed on ACMA as a legal operator. Betmakers were creating this site for months. Now their details have been taken off ACMA and the site doesn't load. Looks like this "bookie" gave up even before starting. (Bookie in quotations as any tom dick and harry can get a license and open up a white label betting site nowadays)

Why are so many still doing it though?
Lots of these new ones would have spoken to others who have done it before them, multiple others have created new skins with same ownership.

There's only so many self excluded punters out there and they have absolutely zero chance of getting market share with their offerings.

They would be on a shared revenue model with no to little ongoing costs, and I don’t think it’s a massive initial cost. The ones who knew what they were doing would still be making plenty which is why they are going again.

All of these micro bookies combined turn over more than 365 or PointsBet from what I heard off one of the racing bodies. Obviously that gets split 60 or so ways but when you’ve got no costs it wouldn’t take long to make your investment back. I’m sure some fell into the trap of thinking it’s as easy as flicking the switch on but those won’t last long.

There’s still plenty more coming. I’d say there will be at least another 10 by the end of the year. Some won’t survive and I’d say some will merge or get bought out.

Thats all they want

Set up, show positive cashflow and a growing client list, sell for millions to a big player...

That said, i think those days are over. How many new punters would really be going to these micro sites over sportsbet? Not many therefore less need to buy them out.

Plenty still do. Most probably shouldn’t in terms of product, but people will close accounts and leave bookies over some petty things. I think once some people try these small books even if just for bonuses, if they look like a good customer they get seriously looked after. Not that that’s really a good thing.

I think the more successful small books will always be on the radar for potential buy outs still, especially for someone like BetR looking to get market share quickly. You’re right it’s not like it was when there was just buyout after buyout a few years back.

Overall I think plenty would just be using them as investments and collecting a cheque each month. For others it’s just moving their on course business online.

Mintbet has newmarket offer $2 victorian trainer or $2 rest of the world. Any strong value one way or another?

Betr365 good points, zougotcha $2.30 for example.

Readybet $2 jamie kah 1+ winner flemington 7-9 all favourites. Worth it???
