You are guessing Fred. You say by "all reports," can you provide some links of where this was reported. I know why he left for. I am not going to say it here, but what you are saying is off the pace, didn't happen.

Sorry you might be right and hoping you are right but that's not what I heard, Why would an assistant coach leave a few weeks before the end of the season if he was happy at the club and the below might be right But why was he wanting to leave in the first place, and what's wrong with applying for senior jobs whilst you are an assistant coach just a get-out clause from the club to protect Bevo in my opinion

The club probably told him that they need his full attention come finals and we can't have him applying for any senior coaching roles should any become available. If that is what you think you might do it's better you leave now to avoid any unwanted distraction during finals for the club. And given the fact that Monty has ambitions to be a senior coach he has left.

Yer, no doubt the timing of Montgomery leaving was a bit strange. I believe though it had nothing to do with Beveridge not liking being challenged by him.

I think it’s fair to say Bevo has been exposed for not having enough tactical know how to make changes when challenged or implement a winning game plan. He thrives on the emotional us v. them aspect, unfortunately that can only get you so far. When Bont and the boys look at him in the huddle when the other team has got a run on and all he can respond with is motivational quotes and fables what chance do we have?

Fully Independent not a Internal Review conducted by a former opposition

Coach
CEO
Captain
Football Department Manager
List Manager

Best if it's conducted during the last half of 2022 so they can see match days and training also.

No punches pulled a brutally honest assessment of everyone it encompasses.

Yeah, right on.

I'd also include a delegation of BF posters to spend an entire week following Bevo, Chris Grant, Bont and Charlie Parker around, into every meeting. I'd even more closely scrutinise Spangher and Webb, and probably Schache and Sweet, as I suspect those 4 in particular are always hiding in toilet cubicles scrolling through Insta, or googling "how to coach/play KPP/play ruck".

Also, all staff, coaches and players put their names in a hat, maybe Andrew Walker's, and each week 5 names are drawn and they have to host a BF feedback forum.

Can't have enough of this stuff around the club, morale-boosting!

Woof!

Not exactly sure a small margin loss to another team that's a top 4 premiership contender is really enough for a full-scale review

Especially when most of their score came from the first quarter. If it was reversed and we barely scored outside of the first people would be saying Bevo was outcoached on game day.

No but the last 5 years of underachieving with this list might be a d the complete fact our head coach has only one game plan

Of course, we should consider the underachievement of five years ago as completely relevant but the achievement of six years ago as irrelevant

My issue is that for the second time in 6 seasons we stand to miss making the finals the year after playing in a grand final. Opportunities pissed away.

The last time the club was in that situation it wouldn’t see another GF for decades.

Nothing wrong with waiting 60-odd-years between Premierships. They're more intense, stimulating and pleasurable if you leave a bit of time between them. In some circles they refer to it as delayed gratification. I've heard from Hawks supporting mates that the 2015 Premiership wasn't even enjoyable; they'd won so many they'd become numb to it.

To be fair, those were days where clubs were bordering on buying flags. A lack of equalisation measures made it next to impossible for smaller, poorer clubs to complete with the powerhouses like Carlton.

and they say that the Chinese take the long view ! You must have a helluvalot more years ahead of you than behind, Scrag. I'd enjoy finding a Grand Final not even enjoyable.

A valid argument, my main issue is that I often see the club make strange decisions on direction, playing lists and selections which tend to see further opportunities hamstrung.

Notice how good teams in the comp like Brisbane/Freo/Melb replace the outgoing tall with an incoming tall to maintain structure.

Freo are playing with 2 rucks plus Lobb, Brisbane have 2 rucks + Hipwood and McStay, even Goodwin brought Mitch Brown in (who is an absolute spud) because he values structure and players having similar week to week roles.

What other club plays bingo with how they structure across they park like we do. None of the good ones anyway.

Perhaps because we had a structure that worked for us but sabotaged by the AFL e g 3rd man up. No structure is invincible, they have to change all the time.

The third man up went out in 2017. Beveridge any anyone else still complaining about it needs to move on.

The AFL have purposefully made the game more ruck centric and easier for key forwards out of the 6 6 6. What good does fighting this trend do?

We have to win under the current rules not the ones we wish still existed.

I have to agree, I am totally happy enjoying not enjoying a few flags.

If that were happening I can ****ing guarantee we are playing two rucks and at least 2-3 tall forwards.
