Cricket and logic don’t always meet but I’d have thought the logical rule would be to call it a dead ball and bowl it again. Awarding a six for a shot that may otherwise have been catchable seems unfair
It always used to be a dead ball. The new rule is basically saying that the batsman has hit it so far that we will deem it a six. I actually think there's a certain logic to it. Someone's gonna be unhappy no matter what rule you go with but fortunately cricket doesn't often get played under a roof.

Why is there always hype around the Stars? It's like they've been designated the BBL 'glamour club'.
Probably back to Warney days and wasn't Eddie McGuire owner too or something?

I reckon he was involved around 2018 coz I laughed he lost 2 GFs he was involved in

Then you're giving this as a dead ball

Best solution I've heard is let the umpires decide if it's either six or a dead ball. Still not perfect but seems far fairer than making it have to be one or the other

Some cultures and actually have a decent festival/party culture they bring into sport. Our is just getting shitfaced

Having lived 27 of my 50 years in Oz and 23 in England and having played league cricket in both countries.

It really becomes stark if you go and watch test cricket in England. Great atmosphere, costumes, tradition, witty songs about Oz players and great banter with educated fans who love to talk cricket and respect Australia.

Versus

I love cricket in Oz but at the elite level it is a poor experience compared to England. Synthetic, slick, Americanised marketing, flatter atmosphere, Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie oi oi oi rather than witty songs and chants. Sadly a total lack of respect for the opposition side, constantly crowing about their poor performances in Australia (maybe they would play better if exposed to Sheffield shield as Oz cricketers are to county championship).

The thing is it could be so much better as Australians are great people who I live amongst and consider my brothers. They are informed and motivated supporters who are integral to my life as an English cricket fan.

I don’t really get motivated for tests in Oz as they are often uncompetitive and could be so much better.

Let’s cherish the Ashes and regenerate it by ensuring all players are adequately prepared to play in Oz.

I won't pretend to be unbiased here but he's been one of the best spinners in International cricket in the other forms for the past few years and had clearly been told by the selectors he was a very good chance of going so I don't think it's unreasonable for him to be disappointed he's not going. It's not as if they've picked four Warne's in the squad either.
Sure. He’s a great spinner

In short form.
His first class record is so bad he packed it in for three years. Now he plays one, literally one game and expects a walk in.

Nah. In the bin.

Lodges in roof?

Instant win

How exciting would it be if the batting team spent 20 overs trying to hit the roof hoping the ball gets stuck up there

The Davies boys looking like the next big things in Australian fielding.
And he drops a soda.

No chance Petch kicks 50 in a GF winning season this year.
