Sure. He’s a great spinner

In short form.
His first class record is so bad he packed it in for three years. Now he plays one, literally one game and expects a walk in.

Nah. In the bin.
He'd been told he was likely to get picked, Maxwell and Agar have been picked in test squads/teams based off good white ball cricket/no Shield cricket so there's precedent, he then doesn't get picked, he says he was disappointed not to get picked.

Whether you think he should have been picked or not is irrelevant, I don't see what he's done wrong.

The sheer expectation that one red ball first class game should get you anywhere near the squad is arrogance. Precedent aside, the optics are horrible. Imagine him being picked instead of Swepson who HAS been grinding away first class?
Would that sit well with you?

I don’t understand your fanboyism of him myself.

So if the selectors said get through a red ball game and we'll pick you, and he got through a red ball game and expected to be picked, that's arrogant?

I read he was told "you're a chance", not "we'll pick you".

There's a big difference.
So he's told he's a chance to be picked, and then he's told he's not picked, and it's apparently a bad thing that he's then disappointed?

I would've though the fact he and Maxwell, two of the best white ball cricketers in the world, are desperate to play test cricket is a very good thing?

Look, I do three things on this board, I annoy the mods, I have people in my top 5, and I defend Adam Zampa.
But seriously. Why the fanboi? He’s an upper mid international tier white ball bowler.

If he plays a season of first class and do well I’d be stoked to see him in the test side - but not one game. He chose to sit out for three years. No one forced him.

I didn't say that.

I was just pointing out the part in your post where you said he'd been told he'd be picked if he played Shield cricket.

There's been plenty of other cricketers recently, Inglis and Harris come to mind, who can feel a bit stiffed by the selectors but they don't come out and complain.

Truth is, he doesn't really want to play Shield and thought he could bypass the selection process by playing a few games.

Don't know where they sit contract wise, but I'd be stunned if Kelly and maybe even Banners aren't poached to another club next year.

Kelly way too good to keep sitting out and Banners probably wouldn't be getting a game if we had Evans, Salt and Marsh.

Unlike most sports people, he's actually funny.

Yeah, the downside of all the fast bowling depth is that a lot of other clubs are pretty thin in that area and will be looking at the Scorchers to poach some talent.
