They lost by more than 200 runs ffs. They should be booing their bowlers for allowing 320 runs for the loss of 3 wickets on the first day. They were always in trouble after that poor effort.

In other news, Lyon is on 487 wickets now. Hopefully he can go past 500 in the Ashes.

This is gross and Pathetic from the Indians. No domestic competition should dictate the International calendar what so ever. It’s the BCCI’s job to decide if they should stick to april or move it so they got prep for the final

They could've just pulled their Test squad out of the IPL to prepare. Similarly, we could've done the same with the BBL in preparation for the Indian tour, but didn't. Nations are prioritising their domestic T20 comps because that's where the money is. So we just need to accept that this will continue unfortunately.

I also maintain that the WTC needs an entire tournament. You could have the top 8 Test nations (with qualifiers in the lead up), and then have two groups of 4. 4 points for a win, 1 for a draw (2 for a tie). Top teams make the final, or maybe even top 2 make the semi-finals. Teams level on points are separated by quotient, like the Shield used to do.

It'll never happen.

I just don't think there would any interest TBH.

I just saw this as a warm up game for the Ashes.
Was still nice to win though.

Have done for a long time

It would last forever. In an already crowded schedule just can't see how it would work.

And with 5 day matches there would always be the deserving team that misses out due to a couple of days of rain. One day tournaments it's easy enough to have rain spare days built in.

And where would a whole tournament be played. That's a lot of cricket to fit in.

Under the format I proposed there would only be 15 Tests total, many played simultaneously. The most any team plays is 5. We're about to embark on a 5-Test Ashes series that lasts just 6 weeks. It's totally doable.

It would be played in one country. You could build the whole summer around it if you wanted to, but probably just 6-8 weeks.

You can barely find a 6 day gap in the cricket calendar, let alone 6 weeks, and every country would rather fill any gap there is with domestic T20 cricket, as basically anything that's not the Ashes or involving India loses money. So you wouldn't find much support for a six week tournament where you have NZ v Sri Lanka and the Windies v Pakistan playing to no one in neutral territory

I would argue that you get that in the white ball formats now anyway.

I realise it'll never happen, but I do like the thought of it. Whatever.

Or, what if...

the two year cycle culminate in just thw top 4 or 5 teams qualifying. Round robin format, followed by a final between the top 2.

It has the advantage of being less cluttered and makes Test matches even more meaningful, as only 4 or 5 teams qualify for the finals.

OK, enough from me.

You dream your crazy dream, Dazz
