Or, what if...

the two year cycle culminates in just the top 4 or 5 teams qualifying. Round robin format, followed by a final between the top 2.

It has the advantage of being less cluttered and makes Test matches even more meaningful, as only 4 or 5 teams qualify for the finals.

OK, enough from me.

You’re nearly there, Dazzler. One more tweak and the ICC will be all over it. Only 3 teams in the round robin. India, Australia and England, regardless of results…

Rohit may be the biggest sook in World Cricket. Have lost all respect for him.

* Team India. I hope the Green catch burns their souls for years to come like the Maynard block does to Collingwood. Sooky campaigners.
Ironically the best part is the Indian fans have absolutely turned on him after this loss. Look on twitter, the melts make our boards look like high brow legal chat

Riling up Indian cricket fans on social media is extremely easy.
I semi successfully wound a few up by saying I'd read the ICC was going to forfeit them for ball tampering during our tour of India.

Only landed a few, but a few was enough.

Dom Sibley played the least Bazball-like innings in history yesterday. 140* from 415 balls to help Surrey chase down 500 against Kent. He’s better than Crawley, but that probably pushed him even further from selection.

Pujara MK II, VVS Mk III

Did he do a Cowan?*

*100 balls faced before scoring 20 runs.
Hard to tell from the scorecard. But I think it may have been the slowest first-class hundred ever scored in England, by minutes if not by balls. In a country that produced Geoff Boycott and Chris Tavare, that's a spectacular record

What do people think about the possible success of Major League Cricket T20 in the USA - Major League Cricket
There is obviously a large immigrant population based in the US that will watch the games live, but I think to help with the potential long term growth of the game, the international viewership will be needed to sustain the game.
Will you watch it?
Do you think it will be successful?
Do we think cricket could succeed in the US?

Well the article above stating that the ICC is looking to bring rules of max 4 overseas players in all t20 leagues. Surely this will actually kill the league off.

Either they had a LOT of time to chase it down or the other batsman went quite hard, his innings is equivalent to 2 runs an over.

Let me put it this way: Major League Soccer is still a niche novelty in America.

cricket will boom in USA if Bluey has anything to do with it.

Also never been interested in IPL. It's meh

Tests then daylight for me

If it does boom (huge IF I think) it'll be thanks to the Indian expat population (or Caribbean expats). I don't think Yankees care much for cricket. The national team does have some home grown talent though.

This gave me a chuckle.

Ashes cricket 2023: UK media fuel sledging chat ahead of Australia v England first Test

The 2023 Ashes series is finally upon us.

The art of sledging has long been a crucial part of cricket and it’s dominated the UK press in the final days of Ashes prep.
One of the greatest Ashes sledging moments came when renowned womaniser and Aussie legend Shane Warne welcomed former England all-rounder Adam Hollioake to the pitch by reeling off the names of his female Aussie relatives.

“I knew when I came out to bat I was going to get it,” Hollioake told The Sun.
“They said, ‘Here he is, playing his first game for England, all his family back in Australia wishing he was playing for Australia — Uncle Rex’.
“I was like, ‘s***, they know Uncle Rex. How do they know Uncle Rex?’.
“Then they said ‘Aunty Jan’. I was like, ‘How the hell do you guys know Aunty Jan?’.
“They had gone away and found out the names of all my relatives. “I knew Warnie was a bit of a womaniser at the time. I was like, ‘Has Warnie been with my Aunty Jan?’.

“As I faced my first ball in Test cricket that’s all I can think about. My first ball is just a blur. I’m just trying to solve the puzzle, has Warnie been around to see my Aunty Jan?”

Warnie is at the centre of numerous former England stars sharing their Ashes sledge stories ahead of the Edgbaston opener with perhaps none more hilarious than Andrew Strauss’ tale of being shamed and silenced by the Aussie star.

It was back in 2005 in Birmingham with Australia needing an improbable 145 runs to win. Enter Warne.
“Ashley Giles is bowling. He bowled one, it went past the edge of Warnie’s bat and I thought, this is my moment to say something,” Strauss told the Mirror.
“So I plucked up the courage, took a deep breath and said ‘Come on, Gilo, he’s really struggling against you here’ which, admittedly, is a very poor sledge. Sledging was not my strongest suit and Warnie just looked at me.

“These two eyes looked at me and he went ‘Mate, there is only one guy struggling around here, it’s you, you’re f*ing s*’. Warnie had an ability to make you feel very small and I was hoping that my teammates would back me up and all lay into him.

“To add insult to injury, Warnie looked at me again and went ‘Mate, you say one more word to me and I’m going to hit the next ball for six’. So I’m thinking ‘Okay, well maybe your ego is getting in the way here a bit Warnie’ and I went ‘Okay fine, come on Gilo he’s really struggling against you here’.
“Warnie ran down the wicket, hit the ball miles over long on for six and again I’m feeling about two foot six at this point and he just looked at me and went ‘are you going to say it again mate?’”

This gave me a chuckle.

Lol Warnie noone else like him.

Don't know if I can stand to watch the Warnie tele movie. Loved him but I can't see how it will possibly do him justice. No doubt they'll just sensationalize his offfield stuff without any nuance.

I was thinking exactly the same. I feel like I know enough of his life already and I don't want to be guessing how much it is artistic licence. Feels way too soon as well.
