It was a dumb choice of shot too.
I'd REALLY like to know what goes on in the dressing room / coaching staff.Had England 7 down and 120 odd behind at lunch
Now we’re 4 down ourselves with a lead of just 116
Some really dumb cricket over the last two sessions
Expectations of Warner in England are so low we're saying he's been Ok when he's averaging in the twenties.Warner had been okay for the first two Tests so I think a lot of the shouts against him are too harsh. He's clearly better than the back up opener in Harris both with the bat and in the field.
However, he's clearly near the end and we need a plan going forward. I think they'll be hesitant to shift Head given he's likely the next captain and been doing well in the middle order. The Shield options aren't great and Puck isn't going to be picked for a while.
An out there suggestion could be to do with Marsh what we did with Watson and try him there. He's had success up the order in the white ball, could take the shine off the ball as Warner used to, would take the pressure off Khawaja to get going and (in a bind) is a good bowling option.
As an aside, did Marsh really not get a single over yesterday? He's a very good bowler in English conditions as he pitches it up and looks for movement. Poor captaincy yet again when they got away from us at the end.
Yep, Marsh definitely needed to bowl.Expectations of Warner in England are so low we're saying Warner has been Ok when he's averaging in the twenties.
I don't what It is with Cummins and his allrounders.
Seems to under bowl Green a lot as well.
Surely Marsh had to be given a few overs.
It's hard to overstate how bad the Marnus and Smith dismissals were. England desperately need Ali to be effective with Robinson and Stokes injured. We don't even need to hit Ali out of the attack, just nullify and put away the regular bad balls and they'll be forced to go back to their tiring quicks.
Time has never been a bigger friend to us than right now, holding the Ashes with a 2-0 lead and rain forecast.
If Bison scores 10 more he'll overtake both Warner and Labuschagne's series contributions in 2 innings.Expectations of Warner in England are so low we're saying he's been Ok when he's averaging in the twenties.
Agreed it needs to be at least a 350 lead, especially given we don't need to win.Whats the minimum lead that people think we need to be a chance in this game?
I am thinking with the current lead at 142, we need at least another 150 - 200 runs.
Giving us a 300 - 350 lead.
The way our dumb *u**s bowl to Stokes, he will have another opportunity to make a big score.
I scratch my head and wonder have our bowlers forgotten about the yorker, Stocks is susceptible on his pads to both lbw and being bowled, yet we persists with the constant barrage of short and wide or short and down leg side to him.
So the plan is eventually he will sky one ....... well, yes that has worked, but the trouble is he only skyed one after he has already blasted his way to a high score.
Also pains me that with the last ball of the over, we cant manage to keep him on strike and just happily concede a single to keep the bunnies off strike.
This match will require a massive effort from the last five wickets, to post a defendable target.
How many runs do we need ?????
Can't see a draw regardless of the rain TBH.We lead by 142.
If we grab an extra 100 it's handy but prob still not enough.
300+ gives us a chance.
Hopefully rains
I'd take a rained out no result.
Prob won't rain at all now

300 would be nice but that's fair way off.Whats the minimum lead that people think we need to be a chance in this game?

What's killing us is we keep dropping Stokes.
Should've had him out on 46 yesterday.
This is what annoyed me so much as well. Robinson down already, Broad 36, Stokes injured and Wood can only do 4 overs at a time and even then he was slowing down in pace. It's hard to overstate how bad the Marnus and Smith dismissals were. England desperately need Ali to be effective with Robinson and Stokes injured. Also they don't start early to make up time so considering it's pissing down 5-8 every day they won't be able to make up timeView attachment 1731955

Going to be pretty hard to get consistent play
