Whats the minimum lead that people think we need to be a chance in this game?

I am thinking with the current lead at 142, we need at least another 150 - 200 runs.
Giving us a 300 - 350 lead.

The way our dumb *u**s bowl to Stokes, he will have another opportunity to make a big score.

I scratch my head and wonder have our bowlers forgotten about the yorker, Stocks is susceptible on his pads to both lbw and being bowled, yet we persists with the constant barrage of short and wide or short and down leg side to him.

So the plan is eventually he will sky one ....... well, yes that has worked, but the trouble is he only skyed one after he has already blasted his way to a high score.
Also pains me that with the last ball of the over, we cant manage to keep him on strike and just happily concede a single to keep the bunnies off strike.

This match will require a massive effort from the last five wickets, to post a defendable target.

How many runs do we need ?????
Really hard to say because you think 'well Root won't miss out twice', but then Smith does, so we could roll them for ~200

I'd say 200 at a minimum but to be confident we'd need 320+, because you never know how lucky they might get if they go the slog. With some overheads and movement it would be hard for them to get 300 but not impossible.

Under 250 and it’s advantage England

Over 300 and it’ll be a tough chase

In between 250-300 and it’s line ball

Overcast/wet conditions over the next 3 days make it interesting

We need Head, Marsh and Carey to play big innings

A cricket conundrum - why do top order batsmen get out for low runs, quite often, while middle order batsmen dig in and get respectable tallies? It's a mystery for the less schooled such as I...

Had we played with some brains after lunch we could conceivably be 200 odd in front and only 2 or perhaps 3 down

If the last 3 or 4 days play have shown anything its that there is barely a brain between the 11 on the field and 598 staff in the dressing room.

pitch inspection at 1545 (12.45AM AEST). So providing no more rain they might get started soon... maybe... lol (probably wont)

New inspection time for the pitch - (1.15am in Australia’s eastern states). Though covers are coming off so.... maybe?
