Meh colour me unimpressed as we pay slight overs again for a player that can't perform in finals.

Edit:
In exchange for Jarman Impey, Port Adelaide will receive pick 33, 61 and Hawthorn’s future fourth round selection. Hawthorn also secured pick 67 as part of the deal.

Second Edit:
If we finish last, we have effectively given up pick #23

If we finish first, we have effectively given up pick #30

God I hate these 'we gave up picks X, Y and Z so based on their point value we in effect gave up pick A'. No - we haven't. We gave up picks that equate to that - but that will still be picks late in the draft where you are absolutely playing roulette when it comes to picking players. We didn't have pick 23 or pick 30 so we DID NOT effectively give up those picks. We just gave up the sum total of those picks had we been bidding for an academy player or f/s picks.

Unless we are dealing with bidding - we really need to gtfo pick values.

Based on what GW said in video on Hawks website we are done from a players point of view. Picks now
So, we go after picks - with what? The more players we trade out, the more we have to draft at very late picks.

Did we really have to give next years 4th rounder?

33 and a 6 pick upgrade should have been enough.

Not to happy about that.

The truth is that a shuffle of picks from 61 to 66 is irrelevant at that stage of the draft. It's like a lottery who clubs select by that stage. The chance of Port swooping on a player that we wanted with that pick is miniscule. The 4th rounder next season is a pick in the 70's. We could trade out Willsmore for that sort of pick. It's also insignificant. I really see this trade as Impey for #33 which is fair.

We've always paid slight overs to bring in players who we think can contribute to the side. Impey provides raw speed and line-breaking ability - something that we have been lacking. He's also 22 and contracted which increases his value. 2018 Fourth would have simply been included to placate Port and get the deal done quickly.

Why do we need to placate clubs and get the deal done quickly? We are not going to be big players for the rest of the draft period.

Hawthorn have a history of paying overs and getting deals done quickly.

Why don't we wait until the second half of trade week and get the deals done with better value? :p

Unless we make the GF it is a pick in the 60's but yeah it may be a little insignificant, however points for us next year are relevant as we are going to need them to secure a few of our academy boys.

The trade for Gunston was about spot on - and we have killed it in retrospect. It was essentially pick 24 for Gunston - that is a huge trade win for us. Wasn't overs at the time - in hindsight we robbed them.

If we have nice picks from other deals it just makes them greedier for more.
Get it over and done with move on

The swap of picks thingo is really the opposition trying to muddy the real trade. It is what north did with the 15 they coughed up a few years ago.

Pick 61 or 67 is no different. With teams passing at that stage, it may be one pick after the other.
4th rounder is really more lipstick.

late picks for FSs or academy

Not impressed but at the same time I'm not missing sleep over losing steak knives.

I really think we're done unless Schache has zero value, then we will swoop (if you can get him for a late first surely Carl/Coll/Tigs will get him).
