I feel we've missed some opportunities this trade period.

Maybe our 2016 activity handcuffed us a little, but there has been some interesting deals.

Of course it did! We got the two most sought after players of last year's period and neither were FA. These players didn't come for nothing..

I always took with grain of salt the calls from some posters ITT that this would be an explosive trade period for Hawthorn. I couldn't really see where it was going to come from. Fun to muse about but thats it.

When you make 4 Grand FInals in a row on the back of trading away picks to fill holes, you are going to be left without a lot of young talent.

- Our players with value don't want to leave and we don't want them to leave
- Our older players have no value so are more valuable kept with us
- Our younger players are thin on the ground because we've traded away picks of established players for years
- We have no picks to play with this year and clearly didn't want to trade out of next year's draft.

So it seems we are going to send Hodge and pick 44 for pick 43 LOL.

Honestly, anything more would be a rort.

The dude just retired. He looked cooked this year and I would be against signing him on for another year at Hawthorn.

People have worked themselves into an unrealistic frenzy ITT.

Geelong lose Motlop and Lang, missed out on Stringer and Smith - will only gain Ablett in return. On top of their retirees - not their best off-season.
