Not used to saying this but what a shocking trade period from hawthorn. Overpayed for a back pocket butcher who gets 10 touches a game, couldn't offload hartung or puopolo, shocking hand at the trade table, didn't make a play for schache who went for 25 & 40. Absolutely deflated

Alternatively....
Wanted a speed machine who didn't show his best away from home, got him.
We value Billy and Poppy more than anyone else, not in our control. Handy players when fit.
Schache=joke/Dowler in drag.

Disappointing trade period. Thought we would go hard on a quality midfielder like rocky or gibbs to help t mitchell. Could have been the difference between finals next year. We got trounced in the midfield last year. Are we no longer a destination club?

Gibbs? wanted SA or stays at Blues. Rocky doesn't fit our age demographic. Making finals and getting bundled out week 1 does nothing

Was hoping we could play finals this year. I think the management has decided we set ourselves up for the super draft instead. Getting the next luke hodge or roughy. T mitchell omeara and burton will still be young enough. I reckon well finish bottom 5 this year.

Plenty of teams hardly did anything - Collingwood, Sydney, St. Kilda - because there was nothing there to improve their team, like us. Why trade for trading's sake? And Schache? There's too many what ifs with him - Bulldogs got desperate at the end there.

Great post. My thoughts exactly. Busy doesn't equal successful. Will be interesting to see if some of those teams that brought in a lot can make it work for them as I'm sceptical of the quality on offer this year.

For the first time this trade period I feel we are too nice. It is probably an irrational emotional response right now.

Hodge trade (3rd BNF)....I'd prefer Brissy give us a 5th this year and a 5th next year than what we got.

You're being biased, Hodge is cooked and had retired.

Getting anything at all for him is a bonus.

O'Meara and Mitchell are better than anything on offer this year - that includes 29 y.o Gibbs, question mark Schache and potentially toxic Stringer.

That's why no one was willing to trade for Hartung - the possibility of him being delisted and then getting picked up as a delisted free agent for nothing.

Yeah, and Geelong should have gotten rid of Stevie J after 2006.

Heatherly plays a different role and Hartung is younger and less injury prone than JOR. We won't delist him.

Yeah I agree with all of this.

This year and this trade period has been a real eye opener for me on this site. We have a lot of supporters who have been spoilt for so long that they honestly can't comprehend that not every player want to come to Hawthorn. All the toys get thrown out of the pram at the slightest hint of things not going perfectly.

I'm glad the season has ended because its time for a break from BF for me. There is only so many tantrums I can take.
