I might be in the minority but I would gladly have have had Motlop and/or Rockcliff as free agents at whatever Port is paying them (I don't think either of them are on crazy money). And I would gladly have given up the equivalent of picks 25 and 30 for Stringer or 25 and 40 for Schache. I really don't think that money or trade currency was the determining factor for us not being in play for any of those players.
I don’t really get where you are coming from here.
You would gladly have taken Rocky, Stringer, Motlop or The Shaq for the picks that were used, but you don’t think it was money or trade currency that stopped us ??

I don’t think it was either, I think it was the fact that we did our due diligence & came to the conclusion that we didn’t want any of them at the club.
All of them supposedly have issues

The only thing that made me sad about trade week is that we couldn't get in a draft pick in the early 2nd round.

I really wanted the club to recruit Joel Garner :(

There was a Richards in the combine who will try for the draft. Garner and Richards in the same side, how could we lose! Sadly a Nathan rather than a Viv...

Motlop would be in the top 5 highest paid players at our club... you would be willing to pay that?

The TV signing really ended our chance of going after Rocky who would be an absolute gem in our midfield, much like Mayne kills Collingwood hence they couldn't make any moves.

Is there anyone who can confirm TV is on a 2 or 3 year contract? There was talk about both or the 3rd being an option? We couldn't be that stupid by contracting him to 3.

I think its 2 years with a handshake agreement for a 3rd on much less money.

I like the current 2018 FA Pool!

2018 free agency list
:
Rory Sloane
Brodie Smith
Ben Reid
Cameron Guthrie
Tom Lynch
Max Gawn
Neville Jetta
Tom McDonald
Shaun Atley
Nick Smith
Andrew Gaff
Jeremy McGovern
Luke Dahlhaus
Tom Liberatore
Jordan Roughead
Mitch Wallis

Wow the Vickery bashing has hit peak foolish around here now. He is on $500,000 - under the new cap there is no way he'd be prohibiting us going after Rockliff. The only reason he didn't sign with us is because we didn't want to sign him, he wasn't interested in coming to us - or both.

Not a great list. Gaff and Lynch the only two that fits the bill, the other good players on that list will re-sign or go to other clubs and the rest aren't much chop.
We will have enough cap space to go after two Big Fish in the FA period without losing our very good draft hand.

I'm certain Vickery was offered a two year deal with a team option for a third.

Basically if we don't see he is capable of contributing on a regular basis the club will delist him after this year

I know I'm in the minority, but I would be stoked if he had a good enough 2018 to warrant the 3rd year.

When/ if he gets game-time, I'll be supporting him as much as the rest of the players in brown and gold...

If he ends up being given a third year I am sure we will all be stoked. Means he will have improved considerably. :thumbsu:

I also like that Toby Greene is out of contract next year. He might only play 3 games a year due to suspension, but them 3 games would be gold!

Anyone know much about mullett, delisted from north?

Aron Mullett

Was played as a good attacking speedy back flanker for most of the year but boy he looks a good fit in our side playing as a winger with his speed and powerful and very accurate left foot, and still just 25 years old.
Future replacement to Henderson.
Worth a look in my opinion as a DFA

Had the highest disposal efficiency in the league of players averaging 20+ disposals
- The only 3 players to average more rebound 50s this year all started on the All Australian field
- Career best year for disposals, rebound 50s, tackles and 1%'s
- 2018 will be first preseason since 2013 (break out year) without off-season surgery.

I wonder why he has been dropped?

GW also said in that interview we were only going to take 3 in the draft....so 43, 67, 81

Does that mean we're planning on putting quite a few on the rookie list? Also only mentioned 4 uncontracted....does that imply Willsmore is done?

Hodge/Gibbo out, Impey in, plus being 1 short on the main list already....we need to delist 2 of "the 4"....but we have 2 rookie spots open with Surman and Fitzy gone.
