Key quotes:

“Callan has been experiencing increasing groin pain in last few weeks. Scans have now revealed OP changes in his groins, so we will need to monitor that closely. He will miss at least the next fortnight of football,” he said.

...

“Jon fell awkwardly on his shoulder and scans have since revealed a small tear and labaral damage. The next steps for us are to meet with the surgeons to determine the best course of action.”

...

"It's to be expected that a long season will take it toll on young players, especially teenagers playing their first season of AFL,” explained Quinn.

"Toby Greene has already played 16 games this season and this is at the upper limit of the number of matches we wanted any first year player to playthis year.

...

Scans this week showed abnormalities in Sam Frosts’ hip and he will now meet with surgeons, but will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Well with both Mohr and Frost out for the rest of the year, Jack Hombsch surely gets his chance to show his wears. Patton not a real surprise, gives Izzy a bit of a go. Toby Greene is probably due for a rest anyway. It's Callan Ward that is the real killer, That is truly not good :( :(

Feel your pain guys, we've got a dissapointing injury list and all you want to do is see the best kids on the park play to the full potential and watch them develop.

Good luck on Saturday.

It sucks we don't get to see a full strength Giants vs a full strength Suns anytime this season.

Maybe in the finals in 2014 :)

Season-ending surgery for Cameron (hip), Patton (shoulder) and Shiel (toe).

@neilcordy: Surgery for Giants Cameron, hip. Patton shoulder and Shiel toe. None will play again this year

Palmer, Cameron, Frost, Mohr. All out with hip injuries. What is going on with the hips?

Cameron gone hands the rising star to Talia though. Also not good.

Looks like pretty much everyone with even a slight niggle has been put on the shelf for the season. I'm still concerned with the number of 'Hips' listed up there though.

Andrew Wu from the SMH on Folau's injury:

@wutube
Folau has been suffering from back soreness all week and even had epidural in bid to play, club says. Hopeful he'll be back for R23 #afl

Hopefully the injury explains his truely pathetic effort last week where he looked totally disinterested.
I am a supporter of Izzy and hope he succeeds. I think of Mike Pyke with Izzys progress. he will never be a star but given time and his natural ability he should develop into solid player able to compete for aa regular spot in the team

Update for the season finale: Wilson goes out with a fractured cheekbone sustained against St Kilda, Darley out with a foot injury. Scully, Folau, Cornes and Palmer all back from their one week niggles.

Forgot to post in here that it seems Phil Davis might have an ankle injury/surgery judging by his Twitter today.

This article on Coniglio (a decent read; http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/14820399/coniglio-cant-wait-for-giant-paybacks/) also notes that he started the season with knee tendonitis, played through a third of the season with a broken finger before his surgery, then had his season end with a hamstring strain related to stress fractures in his back. Doesn't seek like much cause for concern with the club rightly shutting him down to get ready for pre-season.

Davis was the one I was sure of. Good to hear it's not being hushed by the club. He's had surgery on his foot for a broken bone.

Yeah nothing's been released but he tweeted 'and here we go...' yesterday with a couple of the boys replying about surgery and now he's on crutches with a 'sore ankle'. There haven't been any real updates or emails in that vein since the end of the season but they've been forthcoming with other surgeries so when they do have an update I dare say it'll be in there.

Really good to see Phil play all 22 games this season so hopefully he'll be up and ready for the start of pre-season.

Sounded like perhaps the bone wasn't broken until after the season.

Depending on the bone in the foot/ankle, you can play with a broken bone there indefinitely albeit with some pain, so it's not impossible that he played the last few weeks with the injury.

I was being intentionally vague; he broke it after the season ended.
