It is a bit weird saying Buddy. He has been the second best player in the league now and has received the best deal anyone has received in a fair while. When you play the money/ length of contract VS output. I would say he is only currently as a barely passing level.

For me it is Anthony Miles. He looks to be a real steal.

Vince would be right up there. His career had stagnated terribly as Adelaide. Coming to Melbourne was the best choice he ever made (I cannot believe I have said that without laughing afterwards).

I'm not sure Miles was traded. I thought he was actually delisted by GWS. Good nomination otherwise though.

Miles was traded just as much as White, Franklin, Betts and Dal Santo were, as in, he wasn't. White was not traded, he was delisted and picked up as a free agent by Port. If White and Dal Santo counts, so does Miles. In terms of what Richmond paid for him and in terms of impact, Miles is up there. Maybe the op only wants to include free agents and traded players?

Miles was taken in the rookie draft. White, Franklin, Betts & Dal Santo were free agents. None would have been de-listed.

Anyway 'recruit of the year' is more than 'who is the best player?' which is obviously Franklin. Well done to the team with a $1m higher salary cap on signing a guy for $1m a year...

I reckon Mumford wins in terms of outlay vs output.
