Lols. Try losing Ben Cousins around that time of the match.

Also imagine WCE 07 without Kerr, Cousins and Judd vs Collingwood (plus CHF Hansen injured out of the game). To call these chokes is a bit wild. Not to mention they won the flag a year beforehand, so the presence of a choke is less likely. Collingwood also held WCE goalless in that 1st quarter, so they had shown an ability to stem WCE scoring in that particular game prior to the last quarter.

Of all the examples, its a rather absurd one.
None of this changes the fact that you led by 4 goals with a quarter to go and lost two weeks in a row, especially in the SF which history has shown is very difficult for the home side to lose.

Smashed by injuries though. Hardly a choke, we just weren't good enough with the side we had on the park and the injuries they were carrying.

North Melbourne Rd 1 2013.
North Melbourne Rd 2 2013.
North Melbourne Rd 5 2013.
North Melbourne Rd 8 2013.

West Coast Rd 5 2013.:(
North Melbourne round 1? The game that they were 34 points behind half way through the last quarter? Really?

Rd 19, 2005

19 minute mark of the last quarter, Collingwood up by 23 points.

North kick 5 consecutive goals to win by 6 points.

Result: Collingwood draft Scott Pendlebury.

Definitely lost in that one. :p

* Essendon v Carlton in the '99 Preliminary Final
* Adelaide v Essendon in the '93 Preliminary Final
* Western Bulldogs v Adelaide in the '97 Premininary Final

Not just that they lost but the manner in which they did so.

Im going to bring up a game that the chokers actually won.

Final round of the 2007 season and West Coast lead Essendon by 44 Points at 3 QT at home. IIRC correctly we also kick the first goal in the last, putting the margin over 50 points and cruising to seal 2nd spot and a home QF.

Essendon then pile on 8 goals to one leaving the margin at the end of the game at 8 points.

Due to the drop in percentage we come 3rd instead of second and play Port at AAMI.

A full strength Eagles was the only team with any chance against the Cats that year (still doubt we would have won).

I don't think there is any doubt that without that last quater the Eagles were playing in a GF that year.

Hird's final game as a player, Sheedy's as Essendon coach. Scott Lucas kicked 7 of those final quarter goals. Sad day.

If we are talking about near-chokes, then Essendon's 2001 Preliminary Final effort against Hawthorn has to be up there. Very, very lucky that day.

Talk about a reversal.

The ultimate choke is this.

1/4 Time, Foot 1 2 8 STK 7 3 45.

Full Time, Foot 19 11? 125 STK 13 9 87.

What that means is that ST Kilda led at quarter time by 37 points only to lose the game by 38 points.

Wasn't the bolded the same game where Glass was giving Rocca a bath, and for some reason Worsfold gave Glass a spell for 5 minutes late in the game, and Rocca kicked 2 or 3 goals while Glass was sitting on the pine?

Probably the worst game I'd ever seen us play.

Trent Croad could've knocked us out of the granny if not for errant kicking.
