Yup, only 3 players have played every game this year. Curnow, Docherty and Fisher. You'd have thought Charlie and Doc were the least likely to achieve that.
Fisher would've been a close 3rd as well given in the previous couple of years he seemed to be one of those guys who's constantly nicked and missing a week or 2 multiple times a year for ticky-tack stuff.

+ Ed C, Newman, Cuningham, Boyd, Philp, Walsh, Fogarty... be nice to see the full list, and where they are at.

4 players missing the start of pre-season, nice

- Explains poor return from Pittonet.

- Hewitt - hopefully fixes his back for good although I know back operations are always the panacea ??

- Kenndey - If he is back running for start of pre-season I'll be surprised but if so great result. Iguess there is running and 'running !'

That’s the smallest injury list we have had in years.

Timed to perfection. ******* hell.

Injury lists of the finalists for week 1 are incredible

Melb and Rich almost all available and most from all teams available, ex Fyfe

We need that luck in 23, some heart and not much more
The low numbers you've been seeing from some clubs for as much as a deacde? It's not luck.

There's a combination of both luck and management.
This.

We have been very unlucky

Impact injuries are all luck.

Soft tissue injuries could be due to management. And also recruitment. Recruit players with alot of injury history don't be surprised if they miss games due to injury

I think this is a really big point. Russell can only do so much with some players. Unfortunately not all bodies can cope with the rigours of AFL.

Pitto cops a knee knock in game.
Weiters a shoulder in game.
McKay cops a ... (was it shoulder or knee? Can't remember now) in game.
Newman cuts his knee in game.
Kennedy cops a concussion, broken jaw and broken foot (apparently at the same time) in game.
Stocker copped a few different impact injuries in game from his hard playing style.

Apart from that, Charlie, Marchy, Gov, Martin, Cuningham, Williams, Hewett, Kemp, Doc and McDonald have all had previous or ongoing issues, whether soft tissue or joint related.
Charlie, Doc and Kemp seem to be back to full health. Marchy and Gov looked good to round out the season. Hewett's surgery will hopefully get him right.
That leaves Martin, Cunners, Williams and McDonald as unknowns. Out of that, Cunners (knee) and McDonald (back) aren't fitness based.
So that just leaves Martin and Williams as the two main ones (assuming Gov doesn't break down again) who keep getting soft tissue injuries and can be attributed to Russell in some way, but they had issues prior to coming across.

I'm not sure how a new guy/team can address and fix that.

Oh, and Ed's getting old. We know he's the consummate professional when it comes to fitness/preparation, so can't blame Russell for Ed breaking down most of the year.
